Country Lovin' from a Northern Girl

When someone asks me what kind of music do I like, I usually name artists rather than say a type of music. Also, most of you know I am kind of an old soul when it comes to music. I love Frank Sinatra and the rest of the rat pack, along with Jazz artists such as Diana Krall and David Benoit. However, I can honestly say I have never really gotten into country music (with the exception of Taylor Swift--I LOVE her). Of course I have MANY friends that just love country music and I have listened to their music with them from time to time. Going to school in the south really opened my eyes to some really great country music. I know a lot of my readers are big country fans so I am curious as to what you're favorite country songs are? I'd love to widen my horizon in this genre! Here are my faves:

Best Days of Your Life- Kellie Pickler... I had no idea who she was until my Big introduced me to her. She actually met her in N.Y.C. in Saks. They were both trying on Louboutins.. how cool!

Wagon Wheel- Old Crow Medicine Show.. I am obsessed with this song. The first time I hear it was this past school year, and now every time I hear it, it reminds me of my friends and all of the fun times I have at school! I even know every word and introduced cCm to it as well, and she loves it now!

Sorority Girl- Luke Brian.. I am OBSESSED with this song. The lyrics are almost too true AND I love that it says ZETA in it!!

Rold Tide- I don't even know who sings it. But when the college bowls were going on, friends of mine had their statuses up on facebook as "Roll Tide".. I had NO idea what that meant, and so I asked my sister and she said some of her friends had the same status. So we googled it and found out that it's for Alabama's football team and this song came up through google and now cCm and I are obsessed. I'm sad to say that I'm not much of an Alabama football follower though.

Song of the South- Alabama... This song is another that really reminds me of school. I love it!

Carolina- Eric Church.. I really enjoy this song not only because the song is good but I love the lyrics too!

I hope you all have a fabulous day! Remember to let me know what your favorite country songs are!
Yours,
sCe

Zac Brown Band - "Chicken Fried"
Brad Paisley ft. Allison Krauss - "Whiskey Lullaby" (if you want to cry)
Brad Paisley - "Mud on the Tires"
Dierks Bentley - "Free and Easy"
Tim McGraw - "My Best Friend" & "Southern Voice"
The Band Perry - "Hip to my Heart"
Jaron and the Long Road to Love - "Pray for You"

I never used to listen to country music (uhh, I live in Massachusetts!), but then my boyfriend got stationed in Mississippi while he was in the military and he started listening to it... and got me into it. Now I love it! It makes me think of summer :)

Oh goodness, you know, I've never really gotten into country as my primary genre of music. But I will say that during the summer on the beach I like to pull out some Kenny Chesney music now and then!

I am a big music person, and I love all kinds of artists and genres. Country music is definitely one of my favorite genres. You've listed great artists. I would say to go on iTunes and just preview several of their songs both old and new as well as other great country artists. I love George Strait, Carrie Underwood (favorite), Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Josh Turner, Martina McBride, Justin Moore, Brad Paisley, Miranda Lambert, Blake Shelton, Rascal Flatts, Brooks & Dunn, and many more. A lot of these artists have some great new songs, but I love listening to their old stuff, so like I said, you should definitely dig around on iTunes and see what you find!

Great choice of songs! Love all of those, but my new favorite country song is Lady Antebellum's American Honey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzzr7RbzUTs "nothing's sweeter than summertime..."

There are quite a few country songs I like but I can't pick which one I like the best. However, after reading your post, I do have a new favorite..."Sorority Girl" by Luke Bryan.

Kelli Pickler is from my state...NC!

Just found your blog. SO cute!

I am probably one of the biggest lovers of Wagon Wheel of all time. It's been my #1 song for YEARS and like you, it always reminds me of good college memories and good friends. Me and my best friend in college used to listen to it every night while we were getting ready to go out. Those were the days...

ERIC CHURCH! He is amazing. Every bit of his music I love. :) Check out Easton Corbin also. He is young but sounds like George Strait (oldie but a goodie!!).

I haven't heard the Sorority Girl song! And it is so true of my college days except for the tailgating part. At Ole Miss we Grove.

There isn't much country I don't like. Of course there isn't much music out there I don't like at all.

Wagon Wheel!!!! That song is HUGE at my school! Love, love, love "Sorority Girl."

I work in the country music industry (well, intern, hopefully work once I graduate in December) so I could go on and on an on. We had a new artist come in Monday and play for us in our boardroom. His name is James Wesley and his song "Real" moved us almost to tears. It's just beautiful. And of course I love all things Kenny Chesney so I've been listening to his new single, "The Boys Of Fall," since it hit radio on Monday!
