Ring Etiquette

I love rings. I really do. From cocktail rings to diamond rings, costume jewels to signet rings, I love them all. Scroll through to see some of my favorite current picks!

Now the real reason for a post about rings: What do you think about wearing rings on your left ring finger when you are not engaged or married?

I have always worn rings on both fingers (probably twice weekly), and the one on my left finger is never anything that would resemble an engagement ring. However, I have noticed that many guy friends have commented on my wearing a ring on my left hand. Is that wrong?  I remember reading something about women not wearing a ring on her left hand ring finger (ever) unless it is an engagement ring. So readers give me your opinion. Some days I just want to get wear out of my pretty rings and wear one on each hand!!!

Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

I wear my great grandmonther's peridot ring from my grandfather on my left hand. I actually find rings really uncomfortable on my right hand! I feel like if it doesn't look like an engagement ring, it shouldn't be an issue!

I say do what feels comfortable to you! I'm very picky about things on my fingers and wrists, and I actually only wear things on my left hand and wrist. So before I had my engagement ring, my ring finger on my left hand was the only finger on which I wore anything!

That finger is the most comfortable and the one that most things seem to fit on, so I go for it. The rings dont ever look like engagement rings so there is that, but I do make an effort to wear rings on other fingers, but it is never as good of fit.

I don't know about not wearing rings on that finger at all, but I have heard that it's bad luck to wear a ring on your left ring finger that a guy outside of your family gave you unless it's an engagement ring or wedding ring.

I guess I'll voice the unpopular opinion. I personally would not wear a ring on my left ring finger unless it was an engagement/ wedding ring. I was taught this from a young age and I typically only wear a signet ring on my right ring finger. I've talked to my guy friends about this before and they've said it's confusing when a girl wears a non-commitment ring on her left hand. I do agree with the other readers though, and you should do what makes you happy.

I have worn my signet ring on my left hand for about five years now, and I think that I'll keep wearing it like that until I become engaged, and then get a small one for my pinkie. I think I read somewhere that it's actually appropriate to wear signet ring on your left finger? But I say be comfortable, and wear rings however you want!

Before I got my engagement ring, I never wore rings on my left hand just because it bothered me. But I wore a lot of rings. And I always made sure that I never had rings on fingers next to each other. But to each her own :) I say go for it!

Does it really matter? Is someone not going to propose because you have a ring on that finger? But - at the same time, my uncle definitely said the same thing to me once. Boys are weird. :) Wear your ring on whatever finger(s) makes you happy!

I have a silver David Yurman ring that I wear on my left ring finger every day. It really bothers some people, but I'm not sure why! I don't like anything on my right hand, because it bothers me when I'm writing in class, but I think as long as it doesn't look like an engagement ring, it shouldn't be an issue!

I personally never like to wear a ring on the left ring finger because I am old-school and want to only wear my engagement and wedding rings there. I know that isn't popular though! I always wear rings on my pointer or middle finger on my left hand instead and wherever on my right!

I say go for it- as long as the ring doesn't look like an engagement ring or wedding band. A friend of mine is Polish and actually wears her rings on her right hand as is tradition over there.

I've heard that it's bad luck to wear a ring from a man that isn't your engagement/wedding ring on your right ring finger, but I wore one from SHS for years before we got engaged. ;)

I think if you want to wear it on that finger, then wear it! It's 2012 not 1910 and we do what we want now! lol

Well, some people believe that the left hand ring finger is only for engagement rings. So, it is usual for people to think that way. Anyway, the rings look amazingly beautiful! It’s no wonder you’ve chosen them as your favorites! That ring with the golden band and blue stone on top looks breathtaking!

I have a question. Is it ok to wear a diamond pinky ring on my left hand next to my engagement and wedding ring? Years ago my mom said it was never done but I'm wondering if anyone else has heard that or what is proper ettiquette these days. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
