Sleep Cycle

Sleep is a good thing
To those of you that know me, it is absolutely no secret that I love my sleep. I mean we are talking a deep, passionate, love for sleep.

In college, I was never one to pull all-nighters... never. I value my sleep far too much and would always format my schedule to make sure that an all-nighter would never be in the cards.

I can't believe I am sharing this photo (I am so not sleeping beauty, people), but it just seems too fitting with this post. On spring break my junior year, we were in Key West (remember this post?). The boys were going deep sea fishing at the crack of dawn and thought it would be funny to take a picture of the girls passed out... guess who was the most asleep?! Me!

Upon graduation almost a year ago, I wasnt' necessarily worried about the working world... In fact, I was excited to work. Many of my peers, had anxiety about the real world and work, but my anxiety? The thought running through my head pre-graduation? What am I going to do about my sleep?!

Want to know something funny? If someone told me that I could have a gorgeous Chanel bag or an extra hour of sleep each day for a month, I would easily pick the sleep option... and we all know how much I love handbags.

Successful people work hard. I mean really really hard. But sacrificing sleep doesn't have to be part of your journey. I treat sleep like I would treat living on a budget. Your "bank" are the hours that you can afford to sleep. For example, if you have to be at work at 8am,  and you go to bed at midnight, then your "bank" can only afford you 6 hours of sleep plus an hour getting ready and an hour commute. So, why am I talking so much about my crazy addiction to sleep and all of this "sleep budgeting" nonsense?

Enter the Sleep Cycle app which is a bio-alarm clock. It calculates stats about your sleep each night. It's more fun than super scientific but It's interesting to watch the charts build up based on your sleeping habits. Even cooler? It comes with soothing alarm sounds that quietly and calmly wakes you. The only catch is that you have to remember to start the app when you are about to go to bed.. I forget a night here and there and I guess it throws off the calculations a bit.

See, I told you I love my sleep.

The only thing I don't like about this app is that I get almost a feeling of nervousness before I hit the pillow because the charts seem like a game to me. I obviously want my sleep quality percentage as high as possible and sometimes that puts a little bit of pressure on my sleep. Ridiculous, I know!

Do you use the sleep cycle app? What do you think? Are you as in love with sleep as I am?
Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

I got that app last year and was obsessed with it for awhile. I'm exactly like you, I am addicted to my sleep. I seriously cannot function if I don't get enough. Maybe I'll have to start using the app again!

I use the app as well. One of my proudest moments was hitting 100% sleep quality - is that sad or what!

I am about to graduate and one of my biggest worries about next is getting enough sleep! I love my sleep cycle and I need my 8 hours... I don't know what I'm going to do next year!

I've had sleep cycle for about a year and half and I'm so happy I did. I'm obsessed with it, I love being able to track my sleeping and see what things I do differently each night. Goal is to get 100% sleep quality!

I'm obsessed with this app--so far, I'm about 400 days in (and counting!)

I've learned that I get approx 7 hours 50 minutes of sleep a night, and that I sleep MUCH better with their "Sleep Aid" option on. (The Brown Noise is my favorite!)
