One fateful day back in 2004, I went to the local drugstore and bought a box of hair color. I have light brown hair, however, I thought I'd go behind my mom's back (at age 14) and highlight my own hair (because she wouldn't let me get my hair colored).

That entire paragraph above can be summed up in one word: disaster. There really is something to be said about being young and stupid, hah! That day in 2004 is when I officially joined the lighter side and haven't looked back. I have been going to the same stylist for forever. However, I was recently introduced to an Aveda salon called MaxManni in Pittsburgh. I had no idea that this gorgeous salon was so close to me! Aveda set me up with Abby and I went in one morning and she worked her magic... literally. I think she may have magical powers.

I've always loved my hair color and never had a problem with it, really. However, the Aveda color that Abby put in is simply gorgeous. It's so natural looking and just the right shade of blonde. I wanted to go a little lighter for summer and she did exactly what I wanted. She added in blonde highlights and then rinsed it with a toner-- something that I had never had done before!

Once the color was done, she used the Smooth Infusion Line, which I hadn't tried. I've always loved Aveda products. Not only are they great on my hair, but I absolutely love the way they smell! I ended up leaving with the Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Creme because I loved it so much. It has the best fresh and light citrusy scent and is specifically made to fight frizz in humidity. Pittsburgh is never too humid, so I don't have a problem too often, however, while traveling, the humidity makes my hair grow into a lion's mane! While I was in Hilton Head I almost always had my hair up in a bun because I didn't have a product to battle the humidity. Thankfully, now, I have this styling creme!

I can't wait to go back and see Abby again. I really loved the experience and am so glad to have found this gem of a salon in Pittsburgh! Since I get asked all the time how I get my hair done, if you are in the Pittsburgh area, you can get 10% off of your next appointment at MaxManni if you let them know you read about it on Summer Wind!
