This weekend I packed up and went down to DC to visit my BFF, Lauren. Her boyfriend planned a fun weekend for her birthday and I surprsied her by coming down. She had absolutely no idea I was coming and had no idea of our plans to take a party bus winery hopping! It's funny because the day before, she had been texting me saying how it's been so long since we've last seen each other and how we need to get together ASAP. I got a nice laugh out of that one! Friday night we all hung out, went to dinner and just had an all around great time catching up. Then, the next morning, we all got ready and drove into Virginia.
It was such a fun time. I went to school at James Madison, so I was pretty familiar with Virginia wineries, but we went to two I had never been to before: Desert Rose and Rappahanock Cellars. While it was pretty cold and dreary, we made the absolute best of it. Lots of glasses of wine were had, laughs, singing happy birthday, and a super fun ride back into DC. All in all, it was a weekend for the books (see Instagram here)! It's so much fun celebrating the happy moments in life, don't you think?
Since I was only there for 48 hours, I didn't need to pack much. I just folded up a few sweaters and some jeans and my basic toiletries/makeup. I went very cozy casual for the entire weekend because it was cold and grey! These Barrington Gifts bags were perfect. The duffel is roomy and has a great zip pocket inside. Not to mention, it also has an additional shoulder strap if you have a long walk through an airport. I love the blue print. Doesn't it remind you of the Dolce and Gabbana blue majolica print or the tile 'doorway' in Greenwich Village (88 Perry Street?! So perfect for spring and summer!
My favorite thing about Barrington Gifts bags are that they are super durable. They're made with a tough ballistic nylon so the chances of the bags getting worn are a lot less! The leather is always such a welcome and luxe touch! Since Mother's Day is coming up, I think a bag with your mom's initials would be such a great gift. I use my St. Ann totes a lot as pool beach totes since they are so roomy and durable! There is also a diaper bag version for new moms! What a nice gift that would make for a shower or a mom's first Mothers' Day!
Since the drive is pretty quick and easy, I went for comfort but also didn't want to be in sweats since I wanted to look presentable when I arrived. I opted to wear one of my go-to classic Breton striped tops and my favorite dark wash skinnies paired with some new leopard Oscar de la Renta flats. When I arrived, I just threw on a sweater and we headed to dinner!
