The most asked question from readers/followers is always about my hair. Thank you to everyone for all of your kind compliments about it... I really appreciate it and it is very flattering.

Today I'm spilling all of my hair details. There is really no secret or special products, but I get a ton of questions, so I am compiling all of them into this post for your reference!

What is your natural hair like?
I have a lot of hair and it is insanely thick. It's been like this all of my life. My hair color is naturally brunette. It dries straight (no curl to it) but I never really wear it totally natural (you can see a pic of it totally natural, here) because it's SO voluminous and frizzy. Usually, when I go heat-less, I'll just pull it all up into a bun. It also never gets overly oily; it's pretty dry.

How often do you wash your hair?
3 times a week max, I try to do it as infrequent as possible.

What shampoo and conditioner do you use?
Dove shampoo and conditioner (I get the giant pump bottles from Costco). It is seriously the only shampoo and conditioner that I've found to truly 'work' on my hair. I swear by it and I've been using it since I was in high school. I've tried so many different brands, but always always always go back to Dove! I also do a hair mask once a week. I love this It's a 10 Mask (really, everything from It's a 10 is the best!!!). I leave it on for about 15-20 minutes!

How often do you get highlights?
Every 6 weeks during the summertime, and during the winter months, every 5 weeks. Truthfully, I'd love to get it colored more often because my hair grows incredibly fast and my natural hair color is a lot darker than my highlights (so seeing my roots happens quickly.. as you can see in these photos, which were shot the day before a highlight and trim appointment!). However, it's just too damaging to do it more often.

What highlights do you get?
They are Aveda color. I get blonde highlights and then finished off with a golden toner. I only get half a head of highlights and leave the underneath my natural color (I don't get lowlights). I keep the underneath color-free so it stays healthy and strong (coloring my hair takes a toll on the health!).

What salon do you go to?
I see Abby (who is THE BEST) at Max Manni (an Aveda salon) in Pittsburgh and could not recommend it more. You can read more about that in this post, here. They are located in Robinson, but it's really easy to get to wherever you are in the city! Honestly, I wouldn't trust anyone else, she is truly amazing (my sister and friends have started going to her now, too!).

Do you have extensions?
Nope, I have never had them! I am not sure I would ever want/need them.

Have you ever cut your hair short?
Yes, once in 5th grade and I don't think I'd ever do it again. I like having long hair!

What hairdryer do you use?
The T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i dryer. It's super lightweight and dries my hair quickly and evenly. When you first use it, the heat doesn't seem as hot as other dryers, but it dries my hair just as fast, if not faster than other dryers that I have used. In turn, it leaves my hair a lot healthier which is a major plus.

How long does it take to dry your hair?
About 15(ish) minutes. I typically towel dry my hair until it's damp. Then let it air dry a bit while I do my makeup before blow drying.

What hot tools do you use?
T3 Whirl Trio// Conair// Solia
I use these conair curling irons. I have them in all different sizes but prefer the 1 1/4" barrel. I also have the T3 Whirl trio and love the biggest barrel on this one for beachy/undone waves. Lastly, I use a Solia straightener that I love! It heats up quickly and takes care of frizz!

How do you get your volume?
It's totally natural. I don't do anything in particular to get more volume in my hair. In fact, sometimes, I add products or curl/straighten it a specific way to tame/tone down the volume of my hair! The only thing I can suggest (that I do from time-to-time) is that when I straighten my hair, it can get flat on day 3, so I will take a blow dryer and quickly blow it through my hair with my head turned upside-down. It adds volume really easily!

What hair brush do you use?
I love the wet brush.  I use that when I get out of the shower! In the shower, I use this awesome detangling brush with a hook. The hook is the best part because it can hang to try right in the shower. After I shampoo, I brush the conditioner through my hair. It assures every strand is coated and I also find that I use less conditioner this way! Lastly, I use a few brushes from Fromm, the paddle brush being my favorite to combat tangles.

Do you curl your hair every day?
No, definitely not. If I have a particularly uneventful week, I try not to use heat on it at all. However, if it needs to look nice all week, I'll usually curl it about 2 times a week. I prefer to curl my hair at night in tight curls and then sleep on my curls. When I wake up, my curls look more natural and wavy. I'll typically touch them up the next morning, but often, they don't even need a touch up.

How do you wear your hair when you sleep?
Down. I have heard it is good to wear your hair up to keep it away from your face and to keep it from snagging while you sleep. However, it hurts my head whenever I do that! I got a few of the silk pillow cases as I have heard they're good for preventing wrinkles and also great for your hair while you sleep! I haven't noticed much of a difference, but I'm hoping it'll make a difference in the long run.

How long does it take to do your hair?
From start to finish (aka stepping out of the shower to walking out the door) about 45 minutes.

How often do you get your hair cut? How do you get it cut?
I hate hate hate getting hair cuts. I'd say about twice a year I get a trim of about an inch to two inches at a time. I get it cut straight across in the back (never layers) and then angled very slightly around my face.

What products do you use?
It's a 10 Leave-In Conditioner// Dessange Oleo Oil// Aveda Smooth Infusion
These are my top 3 favorite products. I use the leave-in conditioner on damp hair after I shower, and then follow up with the Dessange oil. I'll use the oil on my dry hair, too! The leave-in conditioner makes my hair really easy to brush through when wet, and the smell is wonderful. The oil is amazing for combatting frizziness. On dry hair, I particularly use extra on the back crown area of my head and then always on the ends because that's where it gets frizzy from split ends. The smooth infusion is what I like to use during the summer or whenever I'm in a humid climate as it really helps to cut down on frizz.

What is your favorite dry shampoo?
I don't really use dry shampoo because I don't love it. My hair doesn't get oily very often, and when it does, that means it definitely needs to be washed. However, Callie introduced me to Batiste and I like it. I'll spritz it on every once in a while when my hair is on its last leg and I think it works nicely.

What is your favorite hairspray?
I get asked this one a lot. I don't really use hair spray. Every once in a while, sure, but my hair really holds a curl well, so I don't need it! However, I used to use Aussie's spray (I love the smell) in college and also love L'Oreal's elnett and Aveda Air Spray.

Do you ever wear your hair up?
Yes, often. I don't wear it up in blog photos too often, but day-to-day, you can find me sporting a top knot (like in this photo, here). I also wear it pulled back half-up (with a claw clip, not an elastic) because I like it out of my face (like in this photo, here).

Do you put the It's A 10 leave in conditioner on after you use your shampoo and conditioner or in the place of your conditioner?

You do have absolutely fabulous hair! Mine, like yours, was long and thick and I truly enjoyed it. I had it grown down to the bottom of my back but finally cut it to a bob this past fall and I don't know that I can go back to long hair. I love the liberation of a ponytail that doesn't drag down my back.
