My Top 5 Favorite Movies of All Time

My Top 5 Favorite Movies of All Time

I don't know where you live (well actually, I kind of do thanks to Google Analytics-ha!), but here in Pittsburgh, the weather has been pretty miserable. Whether it's an all-day rain shower or the ground is covered in snow, we have not gotten a taste of spring yet. Because of this, I tend to stay inside more and end up watching movies.

It got me thinking- if I had to pick just 5 of my all-time favorite movies, what would they be? Obviously, I love a lot more than just 5 movies, but I thought I would share my top favorites in hopes you'll share yours so I can add your suggestions to my watch list!

Father of the Bride (part I and II)
I feel like this one is a no-brainer. It will always be my favorite movie of all time (and the second one is just as good). It's such a classic. It's funny, charming, and engaging all at the same time. Plus, it stars Diane Keaton and she is one of my absolute favorite actresses.

The Parent Trap
This is one of those movies that I grew up with. I always wished I had a twin and this really fed into that! It's also beautifully filmed and has such an innocent/fun storyline.

Home Alone
I mean... this is SUCH a classic. I watch it year round, but I really try to save it for the holiday season to make it special. I love the scores, I love the early '90s fashion, the beautiful Georgian home, the interior decor... every single thing about this movie is perfection to me.

The Family Stone
Another Christmas one, I know, but this is another that I watch year-round regardless. It starts my favorite, Diane Keaton, and it somewhat reminds me of my family: tight-knit and lots of people around during the holidays. I feel like the movie gives off a warmth that is hard to describe in words. My favorite scene is when Susanna is watching Meet Me In St. Louis and Judy Garland's rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas plays. I don't cry during movies very often but this one is such a tear-jerker for me.

High Society
I don't even know how many times I have watched this but the storyline is pure magic. Also- the cast is just dream-worthy: Sinatra and Grace Kelly- what more could you want. Plus, Grace Kelly is not only stunningly beautiful but her clothes are just incredible.

Honorable Mentions
It's Complicated, Risky Business, Funny Face, When Harry Met Sally, Harry Potter Series, Thomas Crown Affair, Eloise at the Plaza, What Women Want, Sabrina, Something's Gotta Give, Silence of the Lambs, Baby Boom, American Psycho, Age of Adaline, Guardians of the Galaxy, Friday Night Lights, Dead Poet's Society, The Blind Side, Wizard of Oz, The Holiday, Annie Hall, Royal Tenenbaums, Dazed and Confused.

Ok, now it's your turn! In the comments below, let me know your top 5 favorite movies of all time!

I'm so surprised to see American Psycho in your honorable mentions! That is definitely the odd one out, haha. My favorite movie is Saved - I don't even know why I love it so much, but I do.

I think about this a lot.....If i could only watch 5 movies for the rest of my life, what would they be? So far I have Clue, Ferris Beuller's Day Off, and Practical Magic. White Christmas is close to making the list, but I'm not quite sure yet. I also feel like one slot should be a sci-fi flick, but I can't decide if it should be Stargate: Continuum, The Martian or Passengers.

Have you seen The Philadelphia Story with Katherine Hepburn and Bing Crosby? It's the original version of High Society.

Choosing only 5 is a little difficult... but I think I would have to go with You've Got Mail, The Age of Adaline, Rear Window, Elf, and White Christmas.

I need to check out The Family Stone, for sure! I am such a fan of all the other movies you listed!
