This past weekend, one of my BFF's Aly, and I went to check out the Junior League's Showhouse. This year's house is the first in 11 years! The home was built in the early 1900's and the owner was working to restore it. There were 20+ rooms and many local designers showcased their work.

I actually had no idea it would be so beautiful, so I didn't bring my DSLR camera. So, apologies for my grainy iPhone photos (we went at night so the lighting was not the best)!

Pittsburgh is known for its architecture and a lot of the neighborhoods in Pittsburgh boast very old homes. It is one of my favorite things about the city because I love the detail and character in older homes.

I grew up in an older home and while older homes do have their issues and temperaments, it really is true that they just don't make 'em like they used to anymore. I also currently live in a building built in 1900... so I guess I just gravitate to older spaces! Some of the homes on the east coast in areas like Philadelphia and New England that were built in the 1800's are incredible with attention to detail!

The home was located in Wilkinsburg. All my life I had never been there! It was interesting to drive around and see the neighborhood. Most of the houses in the neighborhood need some major work but there are some real historical gems if restoration is your thing.

The showhouse was so cool and I have to admit that I was very unaware of the incredible design talent that is right here in Pittsburgh! My two favorite rooms were done by Alisha Gwen and Lisa McMenamin Scalo.

I cannot wait for the day that I have a house out in the 'burb's that I can decorate to my heart's content. I've had so much fun decorating my current space but it is just so small and I am itching to decorate (and have) more space!

I figured I would share two of my favorite places for home decor: Williams Sonoma and One King's Lane. Both have classic staples and traditional pieces but also have some fun updated pieces as well. Both sites also have really great sales- you just have to keep patient and check back often. Scroll through the widget above to see some of my favorite home decor pieces.

I need to stop looking at decor because I literally cannot fit another piece into my home... not even a little knickknack! I actually have ended up storing things at my grammie's/parents because I'm keeping them for a future space in suburbia with some square footage! So someone buy these pieces and share your end results so I can live through you, ha! I've also updated my 'HOME' widget on the right sidebar so you can view the items once this post gets pushed!
