Lately 5/10/2018

I hope you are all having a great week! This week has been low key. It started off with some really nice weather so I have been taking Henry on a 3-mile walk each day which is so nice! I also had another violin lesson and have started planning some fun summer trips!

I've been focusing on my eating lately and really trying to eat healthier. I've been eating tons of fruits and veggies lately and I already feel better! I just needed a little re-start because I've been going to so many events that don't have the healthiest food.

This weekend I have a baby shower for one of my high school friends and then it will be Mother's Day on Sunday! I'll head to my parents for dinner on the back patio- a tradition! Do you have any fun plans coming up?

Loving: If you didn't know, May is Skin Cancer Awareness month and this past Monday was #MelanomaMonday. I partnered with Cabana Life in my instagram post on Monday to raise money for skin cancer screenings.  Even though it was an instagram campaign, I felt the need to share it here, too, (this is not sponsored) because the topic is so important.

Melissa, the CEO and founder of Cabana Life, is a skin cancer survivor (at age 26) and she is on a mission to educate people about sun safety. I'm very into skin care and taking care of my skin. A huge part of skin care is taking care of it while you are out in the sun. In fact, it's probably the most important step of all.

Now, with Henry, I'm outside more than ever so I've been really conscious about wearing sunscreen and hats. But Cabana Life is brilliant and all of their clothing has UPF 50 built right in! It's just one less thing I have to worry about!

Eating: I love mustard-based barbeque sauces (aka Carolina-style BBQ) so when I spotted this at Trader Joe's, I was intrigued. Oh my goodness, it is SO good. Tangy and mustard-y with a tiny hint of sweetness. I'll be dipping everything in this sauce!

Reading: I finally got around to reading the second book in the YA series, by Katharine Mcgee. The first book was The Thousandth Floor and the one I am reading now is called Dazzling Heights. They're mindless but very entertaining. Honestly, as much as I want to read great prose, at the end of the day, all my brain can handle is something light and simple and these books are good for just that. Do you have any book recommendations that are just light and fun (and young adult-ish... I hate to admit, but that's a guilty pleasure of mine!!).

Sale-ing: Kate Spade is having a really big sale. They're offering 20% off full-priced purchases using code MDAY18. Now is the time to snag whatever you have been eyeing because they rarely have a sale this good on new arrivals! My favorite? This navy and white tennis dress

Watching:
I watched two movies this weekend. The one I do not recommend is Bad Moms Christmas. Honestly, I really liked the original Bad Moms- I thought it was funny and just lightly entertaining. However, this movie was insufferable and I want to save all of you from renting it on Amazon Video for $5.99 like I did, haha! The next movie I watched is Shape of Water and it was the weirdest movie I've ever seen. The cinematography is beautiful as are the sets and costumes. The acting is also wonderful. However, the storyline is just so bizarre. When the movie ended, I just thought to myself 'what did I just watch'. Definitely, worth the watch, though!

Loving II: This bronze/highlight palette form Charlotte Tilbury has to be my all-time favorite highlighter EVER. I was sent a press package from Charlotte Tilbury and I was so excited. I had only ever used one product by the brand before but have always wanted to try the products because I hear such rave reviews. Well, I applied the highlighter this week and it's so gorgeous. It's subtle and natural but definitely gives you a beautiful glow.

Loving III: Did you guys see the fashion from the Met Ball? I am not really into celebrities and things like this, however, it was impossible to ignore with everyone sharing photos on instagram. I follow Ariana Rockefeller on Instagram and her dress was absolutely incredible.

Wanting: Not a whole lot that caught my eye this week, but scroll through the widget above to see the few that did!

Smelling: Oh my goodness, this scent might be one of the best I have ever smelled. My friend Aly wore it the other day and I complimented her on it and could not get enough! I just ordered it for myself. It's hard to explain but it's light and fresh but also a little bit musky, too.

Quoting: 'If you get, give. If you learn, tech.'- Maya Angelou // See more of my favorites, here.
