Charleston Travel Guide

Charleston Travel Guide
This past weekend I was in Charleston for one of my high school bestie's wedding! The wedding was absolutely stunning (as you'll see photos below) and the weekend was such a blast!

It was great being able to be in such a gorgeous city with friends from high school! We spent our days walking all over town, doing a little shopping, taking in the scenery and eating and drinking! I'll give you the shortlist first and then I'll go into detail below!

Where We ate: 167 Raw, Magnolia's, Poogan's Smokehouse
Where We Drank: One Broad (coffee), Market Pavilion Rooftop. We got wine/liquor at Tavern Wine and Spirits which claims to be the oldest liquor store in America!
Where We Stayed: This amazing Airbnb on Broad Street. This was so great because we were all able to stay together and it was in a prime location right on Broad Street one block away from the famous Rainbow Row and then a few more blocks to the water! We were able to walk to King Street for shopping and to all of the restaurants! The accommodations were clean, well-done, and overall it made for such a great trip!
How We Got Around: We mostly walked but grabbed a few Ubers here and there!

We stopped at one of my all-time favorite spots, 167 Raw. Every single time I am in Charleston I go there because their food is off the charts. I highly recommend the lobster roll. The most delicious hot buttered roll stuffed to the brim with huge chunks of lobster. So good. The location is super small and they do not take reservations so you are likely to have a long wait for a table!

We also ate at Poogan's Smokehouse and oh my goodness it is SO good. I have eaten at Poogan's Porch in the past and this is a newer restaurant opened by the same owner. This was the BBQ of my dreams. They give you so much food it is kind of crazy. The mac 'n cheese was beyond decadent and then I got the ribs and pork BBQ platter with slaw and collard greens. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

One Broad was a few doors down from our Airbnb so we stopped there to get coffee. It's the cutest place with the most delicious baked goods and their coffee is really good. I am not typically an iced coffee drinker but it was so crazy hot that I just couldn't bear to drink anything hot!

We ended up at Market Pavilion twice. It is a hotel which I had never been to. It has the most gorgeous dining room and a bar when you first walk in. Then, you take the elevator to the top floor and there is a bar, a beautiful pool, and umbrella tables with chairs to enjoy the view of the famous bridge and ocean!

The first night we were there I had made reservations at Magnolia's! I have been to Charleston many times but never made it to Magnolia's so it was finally my chance. The menu was all upscale southern food and a lot of comfort food. I ended up getting the braised beef short ribs but it was the fried chicken that really stole the show! I also always judge places on whether or not they can mix a good martini and this one was excellent!

I didn't get any photos at dinner but the outfit above is what I ended up wearing to dinner. I love the leather jacket and the feminine pleated skirt.

The wedding reception was at Charleston Belmond place! It was insanely beautiful. The florals were jaw-dropping and as you walked into the room, you were overcome with the incredible scent of the roses. The band was so much fun and we danced all night!
