Service Sunday: Donating Blood

Did you all know that January is national blood donation month? Thanks to the lovely Lily, I've learned a lot about blood donation and it's a nice way to kick off 2020! Did you know 1 pint of blood saves 3 lives?!

Lily solely donate at the Rhode Island Blood Center. She started donating at age 17, and she has completed about 30 donations in 11 years. Lily's dad (age 60) has done X number of donations and has been her inspiration for donating. He's donated platelets and double red, which are other types of blood donations. Lily finds that giving blood really makes her week. The phlebotomists at the donor centers are incredibly kind and caring, plus the snacks are always her favorite (Lorna Dunes & apple juice!!).

Here are some blood donation resources from Lily so you can learn more! I, admittedly have never donated blood before. I am terrified of needles so this is a really tough one for me, but maybe I can pull it together to help save lives. It's also a realistic way for those who can't really donate monetarily to help those in need.
