"Yes, You're lovely"

As you all know, I used to work at Talbots kids until it closed and my love for Talbots women's clothing is still strong. They have such classic pieces that you will have forever. As I have before, here are a few things that are sitting in my shopping bag currently (I still don't call this fall shopping, I can't bear to use that term just yet!):
Blanket Check Jacket $99. I'm thinking black turtleneck underneath come October, I have to have this!!!!Belted Pencil Skirt $69 Of course I would never wear the matching jacket with it, but I love this checked plaid patternJaquard Skirt ON SALE 71.99Ballet Flat $99--a Chanel-esque quilted shoe, why yes, I'll take a pair!
Nude Pumps $129-- Hello perfect pair of nude pumps!

As a tip, I get all of my Talbots dresses tailored because they are always too long making my legs look short and stumpy, so for those of you who don't like to wear Talbots skirts or dressed because of that, if you really love something have it tailored!
I hope you all have a fantastic Friday, I so look forward to hearing all about it!

Grilled Pizza

Saying that the pizza that bRc whipped up the other night is an understatement. Really, truly, it was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. How he knows how to cook so well is really a mystery! We don't have a recipe but here is how we did it (feeds about 3 to 4 people, prep and cook time about 30-45 minutes):
What you'll need:
-2 dough balls (we bought ours from our local grocer)
-EVO
-Fresh Basil
-Oregano
-Vodka sauce (ours came from a jar)
- Grilled Chicken (cut up into small pieces)
- 1 small onion (chopped into small chunks)
-1/2 red pepper (chopped into small chunks
-Mozzarella and Cheddar cheese (shredded, about 1 package)
- Fresh Asiago cheese shredded (about 1/2 cup, depending on how much you like)

1. Roll out the dough into a circular shape using your hands or a rolling pin.
2. Once into the pizza shape, place dough onto pizza sheet and at a thin coat of EVO
4. place a square of aluminum foil down onto the grill, and place the pizza dough on the pizza sheet onto the grill. Keep the dough on the girl until the crust somewhat forms
5. Sprinkle oregano onto the bare dough
6. Spread the vodka sauce around
7. Sautee onions and peppers and then place them atop the vodka sauce
8. Sprinkle freshly cut basil ontop of the sauce, onions, and peppers9. Sprinkle as much mozarella and cheddar cheese as you wish
10. Place back on the grill for about 10 more minutes (the bottom of the pizza should be turning a light brown color, and the cheese should be melted)
11. Add the chopped grilled chicken
12. Sprinkle the asiago on top of the grilled chicken
Bon Appetite!

Enjoy the recipe, it was really easy to make, and would be a fun meal to make if your children want to help you cook dinner one night. Tonight SYTYCD was on and they eliminated 2 and are now down to the top 4. My favorite is Jeanine! Also, college packing tips, and a giveaway just might be in the near future ;) I'll leave you with this great song "Off I Go" by Greg Laswell that one of my girlfriends showed me. It was in the season finale of Grey's Anatomy:

What do you think of it? I personally love it. I usually like the music from Grey's Anatomy, but this one is really unique I think.

Catch Up

I'm doing a little thing called catch up today. Today I caught up on sleep, finally! Then I headed to the mall to check out a Lands End jacket at Sears to see if it was nice. I wanted to get this jacket. It's a kids jacket and only $40 and I know it will fit me. I wanted to get one for school that I could take out with me at night and didn't have to worry if I spilled on in it, lost it, etc. However, even this jacket I wouldn't buy. I have always loved Lands End for the great quality they have for such an inexpensive price. I'm really glad I didn't order this jacket; it feels so synthetic, and so cheap, that I just couldn't bring my self to purchase it. I mean I'm not one to even complain about poor quality becuase many a times, I have shopped at forever21. So beware, if any of you were going to buy this jacket for yourself or for your little ones, do not, the qualtiy is VERY poor! So on that note, if anyone has a recommendation where I can find a somewhat heavy fleece jacket for under $60, I would appreciate it. I already have several north face fleeces, and lots of nice and heavy jackets, but if I were to ruin any of them I would just cry!

I also finally got my brand new watch fitted!! I am so happy and so excited about it. As I said in previous posts, it's a men's watch, and I know that's weird, but I love it. It's two tone and somewhat sporty, so I'll be able to wear it as an every day watch! What do you think? bRc thinks it's very odd that I bought a men's watch (but inside I think he's really jealous!) My dad seemed to think it was a cool idea, and my mom tried it on and said she didn't like it becuase it was so heavy. It is heavy, but I really love it.

I stopped into J.Crew and didn't really see anything that wowed me. They didn't have their fall stuff in store which I thought was really odd. Has that happened to anyone else?

I also got my class schedule all worked out. Usually we register for classes in April for the fall semester, and I did, but my registration date was so late that I couldn't even register for a fifth class. It was awful and I had to contact the registrar's office and a ton of teachers to see if I could get into a fifth class but no one seemed to want to help me out! Well, yesterday was the start of open registration and boy did I get SO lucky. My schedule is absolutely perfect. I really couldn't ask for a better schedule! On Fridays I only have one class at 12:20 and it goes until 1:10. Yay!

Bad news (well for me). Last night I was trying on some pairs of my jeans to see which ones I wanted to have monogrammed and I was trying on my absolute favorite pair of 7s, and they wouldn't zipper. Now I know that I work out at school almost 5 days a week for over an hour, but in the summer I tend to get lazy and not work out as much. I also over indulge in things I don't eat at school such as ice cream sundaes. My 7s have always been my tightest pair of jeans, and I only wear them when I don't mind being very uncomfortable being vacuumed packed into my jeans, but I couldn't get them to zip. With that said, I am going on a very strict, no ice cream, no treats policy, and doing sit ups every single night before bed. No excuses. If anyone out there has any weight loss tips other than exercise moderately and watch what you eat, I'd love to hear them.

I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday!!

sCe

Bye Bye Lake

Today is the last day of bliss. We just had lunch, and are going to spend the day on the dock, boating and jet-skiing. I just wanted to share this website Max & Chloe, they have some really nice jewelry on their website. I particularly like this pair of earrings:I would love to purchase these, they are only $38. But, knowing me, I will probably never wear them. No matter what I am wearing, I always wear either my Silver Tiffany Ball earrings, my pearls in a range of different sizes, or my diamonds. I don't know why, but I just can't bring myself to wear earrings other than that. Is anyone else like that with earrings?

In this post, I also want to share some more pictures from this vacation!

Got to have a little VV wherever you go! If only VV made swim suits!
Everyone on the deck (I'm the one in the blue and white striped oxford)bVc, pVe, sCe, cCm on the boat ride home from the yacht club

I'm off to soak up the sun. Happy Saturday, I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend as much as I am.

Spa Day and Pretty things!

Today we went to the spa at the beautiful resort that is about 10 minutes away (sorry for the bad quality, phone pic! ). We all got pedicures and some got manicures (unfortunately for me, the whole not biting my nails thing isn't going too well, so no manicure for me) and massages!! This day was just perfect. We arrived at 12:30 and didn't leave until 5! I had the best smoothie ever (it was pomegranate and mango) it was simply delicious and perfect for the warm Georgia weather. Here are some more pictures (taken with my camera) from our spa day!
cCm, me, pVe, bVc outside of the spa!
mani/pedi areabVc, me, cCm in our cute brown seersucker robes!
Doing what we do best!
As I promised in yesterday's post, here are some things I found while visiting the cute little shops:
Loving the blue and white. The whole store was all blue and white ceramic. My parents bought a blue and white ceramic Christmas tree ornament that is beautiful!Adorable pink and green notepad that I bought to put in a basket for big/little week in October. It screams LP!The cutest ceramic jug. They had another one that said lemonade.
Adorable mug!! They also had one with a blue fish. What a great way to wake-up: see your coffee in this pretty mug!

Tomorrow we have reservations at the yacht club for dinner and am so excited because we can take the boat to get there and it's right on the lake. I hope everyone is having a great week!

sCe

"There were angels dining at the ritz"

I find my self often having no idea what to title my post. So when all else fails, I use Frank Sinatra lyrics, so those of you who may think I'm a crazy girl for having random titles, well, that's where they are coming from!

Thank you to all who posted on my Vera Bradley post, I have decided I'm not going to get the backpack, as cute as it is, I don't need another bag, and really, I think my Vera time is about over.

I've gotten several e-mails with questions, so I thought I'd answer those for this post!

Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I don't really have many things that I would consider a hobbie, but some things that I enjoy include swimming, laying in the sun (getting a nice tan!), shopping, spending time with family and friends, watching movies, drinking coffee, and reading books for pleasure.

Q: What music, other than Frank Sinatra do you listen to?
A: I listen to just about everything but country. I really love coldplay, nora jones, rod stewart, dave matthews, mat kearney, snow patrol, O.A.R, and really, I love all of the crooners such as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, etc. I like classical music as well (I usually listen to that while studying). I also find rap and pop music fun to listen to, and it's best to work out to!

Q: What is your favorite clothing item and why?
A: Probably all of my jeans, just becuase I've worked so many hours to be able to afford all of the pairs I own (after about 5 pairs, my mom stops the buying and deems it "excessive", but a girl can never have too many pairs of jeans, right?)

Q: Why did you decide to start blogging?
A: One day while perusing google for a monogramming website, I came accross Hopsy's blog and loved reading it. I really didn't even have a clue about blogging. After a while, I started reading her blog daily, and then started reading other's blogs. I didn't start one until my summer started because I wanted to focus on school. I decided that I would love to be able to comment on other blogs and write my own, so that is how Summer Wind was born!

Well that's all, I hope everyone is having a great Monday! Mine was lovely, the weather was nice and warm, and we boated all day!

sCe

"I've got the world on a string..."

So I thought I would share some pictures of the vacation so far! Yesterday was my dad's birthday, and today is my aunt's birthday! So funny how a brother and sister are a day apart in celebrating but actually years apart!
Me and my cousin, isn't she adorable?
I love reading on the screened-in patio! The kitchen where the best meals are made!Sorry for the poor quality, but the view is wonderful!!

I hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday!!

To Vera or not to Vera?

So I've been a fan of Vera Bradley for a long time. The first bag I ever got was a big tote my freshman year in high school. I have many patterns and really think that they are good quality bags. I've never bought a VB purse (I think they look like they're for old women, no offense to old women or those who like VB purses!) but I do have totes and wallets galore. The real question is: Should I buy another one. I feel as if VB has lost its pizazz, I don't really know how else to describe it. Being on vacation, a friend pVe, has the Botanica print, which I am absolutely in love with, it's so colorful, but the base color is black, so it won't look that worn when it does wear out. I want to buy this off of ebay:It is the Vera Bradley Large Backpack in Botanica. The print is very old, and retired but I absolutely love it. I have never purchased anything on ebay before, but it's never too late to start! I can't find it anywhere else, so that's really the reason. The price (buy it now) is around $50, which is almost half off of the normal Large VB Backpack price. The only time I would ever use this backpack is for going to class, and toting my books (which obviously that is what a backpack is for.) I honestly haven't used a backpack since middle school. Once I hit highschool, I was a tote bag girl all the way. I've blogged about getting a nice coach messenger bag from my parents that I will want to use quite often but of course, not in the rain, or in threatening weather! I've also blogged about definitely getting the Vineyard Vines tote bag with the Steelers pattern they are coming out with this September. I know I will use this as my rainy weather bag, my football sunday bag, and and the August September months because the coach bag is more of a fall/winter bag. So I have two trusty brand new bags that I've already spent a pretty penny on, not to mention the bags I already have (Lilly tote, many L.L. Bean totes, Brooks Brother tote, RL tote, etc.)

So pretty much, what I am saying is that I in no way need a new bag. Do I want this backpack, YES! But the level headedness I am trying to have with myself is saying that I don't need to spend $50, and just have it take up space in my little dorm room. But my personality, and bag lover-self is saying, "get the bag, it is so cute, and for $50 you can't beat it!" And the fact that you can use it any season, and it has so many pockets makes it seem so worth it!

What would you do? I really can't decide, it is a great bag. Is VB getting old? Does anyone else have a VB backpack and can give me feedback on how they like theirs? Should I buy a retired fabric? I would love to hear your feedback!!

Yours,
sCe

Time to get a little southern!

Hey Ya'll (I figure it's appropriate that I say that since I'm in the south!) I made it to the lake in Georgia safe and sound, and boy is it wonderful! We had a great day of sun and fun chock full of tubing and water activities! We are now all just lounging around about to have a lovely steak dinner, YUM!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!! More pictures to come as the vacation goes on!

YAYYYY!!!

This post is a cause for celebration, so pop open those champagne bottles and let's celebrate! I won Seersucker Scrapper's giveaway!!! I have never won a giveaway yet, and was thrilled to be checking up on my fellow bloggers, read her blog, and it said I won!! How fun is that! If you have not checked out her blog, I suggest you head right on over and send her a hello! She has 2 darling preppy children (just like her!) and she has the best taste! Thank you so much Seersucker Scrapper! (picture from seersucker scrapper)

I watched Wall-E tonight for the millionth time, and that movie never gets old. I'm like a child that wants to watch the same episode of Barney over and over. I think it is one of my favorite movies of all times! Is there anyone else out there who loves Wall-E?! I also love the song that is played at the end credits called Down to Earth by Peter Gabriel.

Here are two pictures I forgot to upload to yesterdays post, the first one is what is going in my tote bag for my trip, and the second is the hair accessory from bRc's mom.

In the first picture, there is a tub of the La Source body lotion from Crabtree and Evelyn, if I had to only pick one product that I love from CT&E, it would for sure be the La Source body lotion (I truly love all of the La Source products and the Lavendar products!) If you are looking for a good body lotion, I suggest you invest on these! They are currently having a really great sale (I think that might be my favorite word!) so it's the perfect time to buy!

Tonight I rented Sabrina starring Audrey Hepburn for one of my movies to watch in the car (the great thing about our car is that there are two fold down DVD players with wireless headphones, so cCm and I don't even have to watch the same movie if we don't want to!) I've never seen it before, but my mom said it's a really great movie, and any movie with AH, I'm sure I'll love. Have any of you seen it?

I have been reading other blogs and seeing that they are opening the floor to any questions that their bloggers have for them. I love reading the creative questions people come up with and then love reading the answers. I think it would be fun to do a Q&A post in the near future, so comment, or e-mail me at SummerWind41490@gmail.com with any questions about me or anything else on my blog!
I'm off to the great South for a while, so I'll be posting in true Southern style by Saturday night! Happy Friday, and Have a safe and wonderful weekend!

sCe

"It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more"

Listen to this! It's the opening score for Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince! I've read tons of reviews online and they're saying the opening is amazing. I cannot wait! So today this post will be all Harry Potter (sorry for the non-harry fans out there).

{all images from google}

Unfortunately I couldn't get my hands on the midnight showing! Is anyone going to see it? If you are tell us how it is!! I will be seeing it sometime tomorrow if I can get tickets! Check out the soundtrack on iTunes if you are super excited like me, there are some really beautiful scores, one of my favorites is Farewell Aragog.

I hope everyone has a magical day! I must start packing because I am leaving Friday to go to our family's lake house in Georgia for 10 days!

Yours,

sCe

P.S. cCm just called me and said they have a Twilight game at T.J. Maxx. She is going get it, so I'll let all of you know how that goes!

Blogger is on my bad side!!!

For some reason blogger won't let me upload any photos! I want to tell/show you all about my weekend trip, but blogger is being stubborn. Is this happening to anyone else?!
Yours,
sCe

I'm back!

cCm and I eating lunch by the water (that's my new LP find!)

I am so happy to be able to share my little weekend getaway with all of you (blogger is finally cooperating)! My family and I drove 5 hours to Annapolis and had lunch right by the water! We had the BEST crab dip in the world; I will be dreaming about it forever! Then I had a HUGE crab cake! We don't really have much crab around here, but I love it so much, I would eat it for every meal, and that's precisely what I did! After being in Annapolis with my family, I headed over to my big's house. It was such a great reunion, she is really the nicest girl and so fun to be around! When I got there, we threw on our suits, and went for a boat ride which included tubing! It was really fun, and her boat is TDF! We took the boat to dinner at a place right on the water and had a feast! We had crabs (it was the first time I actually ate a whole crab, usually I just eat the king crab legs) we had hush puppies, and I had more crab cakes. Everything was so delicious, we were stuffed afterward. Then, we got back and went to shop! It was my first time being in South Moon Under and I loved it. They had such cute clothes! I left with one shirt:I think this will look great with white capris!
We also stopped into her mall, which was nice, and had a lot more stores than mine! I got a few things from Victoria's Secret.. All bras were $15.99 and all panties were $2.99 so head over and check it out!
After shopping, we saw My Sister's Keeper. It was a really good movie, and I recommend it to all, but it is SO sad, you could hear sobs everywhere in the theater! I also wasn't used to seeing Cameron Diaz play such a dramatic role (in some parts she was downright mean) but nonetheless, she played her part well.
The next day we went to a great hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant, and it was seriously the BEST Mexican food I have ever had. I got chicken fajitas and they were delicious! We then layed out by her pool and got our tan on ;) and then met another girl that is in our sorority for dinner and shopping at Tyson's Corner Mall. It was about an hour drive, but SO worth it. The mall was amazing, I want to move to NoVa just for their mall! We all got some cute things and had dinner and California Pizza Kitchen. I had never been there before, the whole time I thought that it was a frozen pizza company! Well, I was wrong, the place was very busy but we got a table right away, I got the grilled vegetable salad with balsamic dressing and it was seriously the best salad ever!! I'm sure it's so simple to make it home, there were just marinated grilled veggies atop a bed of romaine lettuce all tossed in a delcious balsamic dressing. I will definitely be trying to recreate this salad in the coming weeks!
Sunday was the day I had to leave, we went to this wonderful restuarant that was so quaint. It was a house turned restaurant, and we sat on the porch. I had great cream of crab soup! My parents came to pick me up, and off we went. We stopped at a large outlet mall on the way home and was so glad that we did. I got so many good deals!!!

L to R: Madras shorts from Brooks Brothers, Khaki shorts from Brooks Brothers, Red shorts from Polo, and shoes that I got at Tyson's.

Khaki VV skirt that cCm bought me while in Georgetown, Navy polo shorts, seersucker Banana Republic shorts

Another view of my SMU top, a BR bathing suit, and an L.L. Bean cozy turtleneck

As you can very well see, the outlets were total success! It sounded like my parents and sister also had a wonderful time in D.C. They told me that they absolutely loved this restaurant called Oya. They said it was the best sushi they have ever had, so if you are in the D.C. area, check it out!

I'm glad to be back in the blogging world and hear about everyone's weekends which all sound so fun! Have a happy Monday!

Yours,
sCe
