Here's the lowdown.... it starts today at 8am EST and will end on Thursday, January 4th at 11:59pm EST. If you have shopped the sale before, then you know the drill. If you are new here, then you are going to want to hop on Lilly's site right at 8am today and you'll be put in a virtual line. Once you are in, shop quickly because things sell out VERY fast. You can check out their FAQ page which is super helpful and contains all of the answers you are looking for!
Sale Favorites:
My biggest tips are:
- Sort by your size so you aren't wasting your time looking at things that are out of stock in your size
- Place several orders if you have to. Grab everything you see at first look, then if you feel like you didn't get all that you wanted, check back later in the day or the next day. This is because things come in and out of stock and new styles are continuously added.
- Things are final sale. So don't purchase if it's something you might not want and might not fit.
Fit Tips:
I wanted to talk a little about Lilly Pulitzer's fit since the items are final sale. It's hard to judge what size you are if you have never worn Lilly, but I know some of the different styles can run big or small.
My biggest tip when you are not sure what size to order is to order larger rather than smaller. This is because you can always get it taken in if it is too big, but it's tougher when you get something that's just too small for you.
Shift Dresses// I find that they fit true to size, and usually a touch big. If you are curvy or have a larger bust/hips, I'd encourage sizing up. If you are more straight, you should be able to take your usual size. I am a usual dress size 2 or 4 and I take a 2 in Lilly Pulitzer shifts. If you prefer a more modest fit, Lilly can run short in length, so sizing up can help a bit with that and then you can just take it to a tailor to have it altered (there is also usually about an inch or two or extra fabric at the hem that can be let out).
Shorts// Another item that runs pretty true to size are the shorts. they're super comfortable. There are a bunch of different styles but I typically take a size 2 in the shorts. A lot of their shorts have a really generous hem, so you can definitely get them let out if you are looking to add a bit of length. My favorite shorts are the Callahan. They are like a classic chino short and oftentimes, they have a really luxe but subtle texture to them.
Pants// These run true to size, too. I sometimes size up in pants and typically wear a 2 or 4 (or 27) in almost all pants. In Lilly jeans/fitted pants, I wear a size 4. In their looser beachy pants, I wear a size 2 or small. I definitely think their size 4 fits just like a jeans size 27 in most retailers, so stick with your usual size. My favorite pant by Lilly is their Piper pant (included in the sale!), which is a loose, lightweight beach-style pant. It feels like pajamas but still looks SO cute. Really great for traveling in becuase they don't wrinkle.
Tops// I am always a small in their tops. Again, another item that runs true to size, but I often find you can size down for items like the Elsa top (if your usual size is sold out) because that style is very roomy. I find a lot of their tops to be roomy and while that is how I prefer to have my clothes fit if you like a tighter fit, you could definitely size down in most tops and be perfectly fine.
Sweaters// These are just like their tops and run true to size, maybe a touch big. If you can, snag a cashmere piece. They have high-quality cashmere!
