You don't have to go out and buy a new wardrobe to create a new look. If you're looking to revamp your summer style, try pairing classic pieces with pops of color.
I took a classic/nautical striped shirt in several different styles and paired it with vibrant chino shorts. I also added classic shoes for a put-together look. I love the nautical striped look, but I usually pair it with either white shorts or pants or navy shorts. This is a fun and new way to pair your nautical stripes and sport a whole new look!

I love this look, I've been sporting it a lot this Summer. With little time to shop due to my busy job, I've been trying to create new outfits from what I have!

I love your idea of adding a bright piece to spruce up an old outfit! To shop my own wardrobe, I like to pull an item out of the back of my closet that I haven't worn in a while, and try to place it in a new context by dressing it up or down with accessories. I took a very fancy ruffled top, for example, that I previously only wore with suits, and tucked it into jeans with a cool belt for casual friday at work.
I also like to cut down old long dresses into new short cocktail dresses...though I need the help of a good tailor on that one!
I do this ALL the time! I have tons of bright colored shorts and always pair them with classic tops! In fact, yesterday, I wore bright yellow J. Crew chinos with a gray and white striped tee!
