RandomThoughts of sCe

Alright, bear with me on this post... it's going to be a bit of a doozy. (I had to Google "bear with me" because for a split second, I thought it was "bare with me". Google then informed me that "bare with me" means an entirely different thing that is on the rather inappropriate side for Summer Wind, so thanks Google).
First order of business is my breakup.... with my BlackBerry. I seldom use the word hate in my vocabulary because really there is no one or nothing that I can think of that I so strongly hate. Meaning, hate is a very strong word in my vocabulary. Well my dear readers, I hated my BlackBerry. It took the worst pictures, it was always slow. It had to be restarted daily if not multiple times a day. In past posts I have written how much my BlackBerry has frustrated me... see here and here. Just like Hopsy posted last week about her breakup with Kate Spade, I have broken up with BlackBerry. The customer service: awful. The materials the phone is made with: cheap. The quality of the software: non-existant. The camera: grainy. The price: overpriced. The apps: spotty. The reliability: like a 2 year old.
BlackBerry, if you are reading this, your company does not offer anything of value to anyone. I will never buy a BlackBerry product for as long as I live and I will take it into my hands as my duty to steer clear anyone and everyone I know of BlackBerry. I honestly can't even think of anything nice to say about the product or the company.
If you've been up-to-date on BlackBerry's doings, the service was out across the country for the past several days and in the press release that you can find here, Robin Bienfait (which if you take her last name very literally, in French, it means "to make good"... quite ironic, huh?), CIO of RIM, sends her sincerest apologies. Well, Ms. Bienfait, I bid adieu to you and BlackBerry. I wish I could say it's been nice know you, but really, well, it just hasn't.
Hello iPhone. I welcome you with open arms. After 24 hours together, I can already tell that we are going to be great, lifelong friends. Any app suggestions, advice, neat things, how to even work the phone on a basic level would be lovely to see in the comments! I am still getting used to it but it is already so much better than my BlackBerry.

If you're still with me after the rant, then thank you and have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

The two apps I would recommend the most are Instagram and PostalPix (and they are both free!). Instagram, as you probably know, is an app that takes pictures and allows you to edit them. I use it all the time.

PostalPix lets you order prints of any photos on your iPhone. I had been trying to order prints of my phone pics through CVS, kodak, etc., and the format was always way off. PostalPix works SO well!

Then of course there's the Yelp and Martha Stewart Everyday Food Recipes apps...

Funny, I had that same hatred towards my Blackberry at the demise of our relationship. I planned running over it with my car(I REALLY disliked my BB) after I got the iPhone but Target gave me $25 for it which I put towards the purchase of my iPhone. So it came in handy.

Welcome to the iPhone world :)

You are going to LOVE the iPhone! It's incredible to say the least! :)

I'm right there with you. My iPhone is my new best friend. and Lilly makes iPhone covers!! but if you what to make sure your new best friend does not break, chip, or shatter you NEED to get the Otter box. it runs about 50 dollars but offers THE best protection for iPhones. I cant tell you how many times I've seen an iPhone screen crack while someone was getting up and it fell out of your lap. Anyway, I wish you the best with your new friend (because it is really unlike any phone i've ever had.. I can't just call it a phone) Have fun and keep the posts coming. My father and I adore your blog and style.

I am in the same boat...My blackberry has essentially become a paperweight, for all it's worth. I am more than excited to switch over to the iPhone asap!

We actually had a great discussion in one of my marketing classes about the benefits of the Blackberry (since no one can seem to find one!). They are basically built around a tight security system, which is why so many companies contract out their services to them. Because of this "niche" they have found, RIM has no commercial motivation to improve their phones (i.e. better browses, internet speeds...etc).

Enjoy your new phone! :)

I feel the exact same why! My 4th Blackberry just died and was forced to buy ANOTHER Blackberry but a refurbished one because it was either that for $86 or shell out around $500 for a new one since I was not eligible for an upgrade.

But since then, Sprint has accquired the iPhone 4s and I am itching to get my hands on one come June 2012!

I feel your pain! I've had the 8330, you know...the really old curve... since I was a sophomore in college, and I'm a 1L in law school if that says anything. I've had so many problems, from the camera outright not working to the phone constantly freezing. I've even had it not turn on even after a battery pull, and give me a white screen for like an hour.

That said, my preordered iPhone 4s is coming tomorrow, and I couldn't be happier. I have sprint so I've been waiting ages for this! I already have an iPad, and I'm telling you, get the Yelp app, Angry Birds, and the Shazam app, which is great because it tells you what song is playing while you're out and and you want to know what it is!

I know exactly how you feel! I currently am using the same phone that you were just talking about and I'm getting really frustrated. All my roommates and many of my friends have iPhones and the difference in picture quality, apps, everything is so clear. Sprint is finally getting the iPhone and I have a feeling I'll be making a switch pretty soon- glad to hear you like it!

I broke up with my BlackBerry in March and have had no regrets. I also went to the iPhone, and it's like we are soulmates (I really never realized I could LOVE a phone as much as I love my iPhone). As for apps; Shazam is awesome (it lets you hold your phone to speakers and figures out what song and artist is playing!! No more "oh wait, I need to remember to look up this song) and the best part is you can download it from iTunes right from your phone!! Also, iHeartRadio is amazing, and UrbanSpoon is super fun!! Good luck with the iPhone!!

SO JEALOUS YOU HAVE AN IPHONE. I'm still stuck with my blackberry!! My best friend actually went into verizon and told them how many times her phone has broken in the past year and they let her buy an iphone at upgrade price even though she didn't have an upgrade! I'm so jealous!
