Since moving home to Pittsburgh, I've been working around the clock to make my old room "liveable". Not that it wasn't before, but I have only lived in it for weeks/a month at a time in the past 4 years and therefore, I didn't pay much attention to the old stuffed animals under my bed, the old scrapbooks on my bookshelves and the lack of necessities that I stripped my room of for my college life.
Well, this has been a HUGE task. It's no secret that I love clothing and love to shop, but my two closets cannot handle my wardrobe any longer. I've had to reformat my entire room to make it into the post-grad bedroom that I need while also keeping in mind that anything I purchase needs to work with a future apartment. It is still most definitely a work in progress (I have yet to find a suitable neutral duvet set...any ideas, please let me know!).
Anyways, I wanted to share some spaces that I am pleased with and will show more as they shape-up!
This is my bedside table that I am actually really like. Space-wise it is a pretty large piece of furniture which is great because I can fit a lot on top without it seeming too cluttered. I also love the crystal lamp, ring holder, perfume dispenser and dish. They all seem to blend together and add a touch of elegance. I have some favorite books stacked and a nice china dish for my lotion and carmex that I use every night along with some monogram coasters and a L'Occitane candle.
This is my other bedside table. They don't match... my parents are very into antiques... I don't really know what to make of it. Anyways, this table is very bare. I sleep on the other side of the bed so I rarely ever even use this table. This needs a makeover stat. I am adding the matching crystal lamp to this side, I just have yet to bring it out from storage. I still also need to keep my jewelry on this side because there is nowhere else that is easily accessible and out in the open for it... Plus the jewelry storage is black and doesn't really match with my room so it needs to be a bit hidden. I even have a gorgeous jewelry box from my grandparents and I don't use it because I cannot travel with it.
Does anyone else feel the same way about jewelry storage as me? I love the look of hanging necklaces up on hooks and displaying jewels in creative ways, but I can't stand the thought of my jewelry getting dust or anything at all on them. I like my jewels to be enclosed in a dark, dust free area while also still displayed so I can always see what I have.
This is a gorgeous antique cedar trunk that I use for winter sweaters. Another work in progress: hanging the pink long rectangular picture frame and getting rid of my old lamp and replacing it with a "grown-up" lamp which also happens to be in, you guessed it, storage. I also need to change out pictures and picture frames. In the middle is the aforementioned gorgeous jewelry box. I will use it someday... but it does look pretty just sitting there. I love lots of picture frames... I hate clutter but when a space is cluttered with picture frames, I love it!
This is one side of my vanity where I do my makeup. The silver canister holds q-tips and cotton rounds. The matching dish is where I toss hair ties or jewelry for a moment. My vanity faces a very large window so I get a lot of great natural light.... Again, a new lamp is definitely needed which is also in...drum roll...storage.
I love this little area of my room... lots of picture frames and a copper tray where I keep my prettiest bottles of perfume. As a side note, the perfume in the front on the left is Sarah Jessica Parker that I received one year for a gift... it smells horrible... but I like the bottle. The back right is YSL Babydoll, the blue bottle is Bulgari and the clear bottle is Ralph Lauren Turquoise which is currently my favorite.
Honorable mentions that did not make it to the copper plate.
L to R: Bulgari, Bulgari, Bulgari, Michael Kors, Burberry.
So those are just a few small areas of my room that I have been working on and will continue to work on the rest for a full room tour! Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

I love how you decorated your beside table. I need some crystal ring holders and I love trays. I should decorate with them more. I'm getting ready to re-do my closet and make some of the jewelry wall holders you were talking about. Looking forward to seeing more!
I love what you've showed in this post and I can't wait to see more! I have a jewelery box very similar to yours (if not the same)...I got it from my grandparents as well! Have a great weekend!
Looks really cute! Especially love your little perfume plate.
I am in the same boat when returning to my bedroom from home right now postgrad. I am in search for neutral bedding as well so if you find some I would love to know where. I am far from being done but plan on posting when I feel decent for now.
so cute!
I'm doing the same exact thing now. Just moved back from college and started going through all my old things. It's so hard trying to keep in mind what I'll need for an apartment. Love what you've done so far and can't wait to see how it turns out!

What you have done so far looks great! I wanted to suggest the white bedding with colored trim or embroidery like these: http://www.potterybarn.com/products/grand-embroidered-duvet-cover-sham-white/?pkey=csolid-duvet-covers-shams
I adore adding a monogram!! This is what I have at home and it is something you will never grow out of. I keep a coordinating blanket folded at the end of the bed to pull up over the white duvet to protect it as needed :)

I just got this jewelry cabinet and I absolutely love it! It keeps all my jewelry nice and I can easily see what I have. The mirror on the front makes it super functional!
