I have an unwinding regimen. I think the concept is really important for anyone and everyone. When I finish everything that needs to be done for the day (blog posts, extra work, social activities, etc.), I give myself some down time to unwind. (Like my pretty tray? Altuzzara from Target and it is 70% off right now. Unlike most of the NM+Target items, this tray is decent quality!). Here are some things I like to do pre-bedtime.
- Play the jazz or symphony station on Pandora. So calming and no words to focus on!
- Burn a candle. My favorites include Jo Malone, Diptyque, and Bendel's
- Pick out your outfit for the following day. It helps me to prepare for the next day and you get to play dress up! I actually lay my outfit out; even down to the socks.
- Drink tea. I am obsessed with coffee but I don't drink it at night because it will keep me up. I buy the least caffeinated teas and drink a cup... or two. Kate Spade mugs are my favorite. (They actually make great gifts as well. Take the mug and fill it with a Starbucks card and the person's favorite lipgloss or candy, wrap with cellophane and tie with a ribbon and you are set!)
- Paint my nails. Does anyone else agree that this is calming and helps you to feel prepped for the next day? I am currently loving Essie's downtown brown that I got in my stocking on Christmas!
- Watch and episode of a show or movie. Current favorites? Homeland and Sex and the City re-runs. Movie favorites? When Harry Met Sally, Dark Knight Rises, Father of the Bride, Risky Business, etc.
- Read. Magazines, books, blogs, etc. Whatever you like to read, go right ahead.
How do you unwind? Do you try to do this nightly? Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

Absolutely!! I do the two mugs of hot decaf tea and Chelsea Lately then off to bed!
I definitely have a wind down routine and my husband pokes fun of me for how predictable I am! Haha. I too drink hot green tea and read before bed. Sometimes I also start my to-do lst for the next day too.
