The last word I would use to describe my style/taste would be trendy. If you've been reading here even just for a short time, then you know I tend to go for classics, basics, and neutrals with a touch of preppy influence.
However, every once in a while, I like to try out a trend. Today I am sharing my attempt at that. I know cropped tops have been 'in' for a long time now, and while I'm not a huge fan, every once in a while, I can see the need for one. In this case, I had ordered this sweater not realizing it was so cropped. When I tried it on, I immediately nixed it and moved on. However, I then tried on this suede skirt and realized that the cropped sweater had just the right proportions to pair together with the skirt!
It actually makes for a really cute outfit. The flared sleeves and suede fabric really give the entire look a '70s vibe, but the muted, neutral colors tone it down as well as make it appropriate to wear during this transitional time period. I re-wore the suede skirt in a more traditional way and you can see the look here.
As for where to wear this type of look? You could easily wear this out to dinner, on a date, out with friends for the night or even during the daytime! I wore it to Sunday brunch at Eleven, one of my favorite brunch spots in Pittsburgh! It was chilly on Sunday (it finally felt like fall!), so this was a really great, put together outfit!

As far as sizing goes, both the sweater and the skirt run true to size. I'm in my typical 27 for the skirt and a small in the sweater. Although the sweater is roomy/boxy, but it is meant to fit that way. You could definitely size down if you wanted to! What do you think of trying out trendy pieces?

This is so cute! I also tend to steer away from trendy pieces but you make these look so classic! I love the way you've styled this - I've 100% ordering that skirt right now!
