I'm bringing back 2005 with a jean skirt!! Oddly enough, I think a denim skirt could actually be a wardrobe classic/staple. I think it depends on the distressing, the fit, etc. but it's a very Americana piece- just like denim shorts or a jean jacket.
During my freshman year of high school (circa 2005), I am pretty sure that I wore a jean skirt and polo with my collar popped every single day. I tried to dig up a photo but it was before I had Facebook (geez, I'm old). Back then, they were super short and sat low on the hips (yikes).
I saw denim skirts popping up in the past year or so and I thought I'd give it a go. I got mine from Abercrombie which has such a great selection and at a great price. I didn't want to spend a fortune because I wasn't sure how much I would wear this skirt. What is also funny is that back in 2005 most of my jean skirts were also Abercrombie!!
I have surprisingly already worn it a lot. I think it looks casually chic with a plain white shirt and simple ballet flats. The white shirt that I am wearing in the photos is the one I have shared in the past. It is the best!!! Right now, it's on sale for just $16!
Like jeans, a jean skirt is super versatile. You can pretty much pair it with anything. For fall, I think it will look so cute with a tan suede jacket or a simple navy blue cable knit sweater.
I sized up in the skirt. I ordered a 27 (my usual size) and 28. I went with the 28 because it fit more modest (loose rather than fitting like a pencil skirt) and was a little bit longer. The 2018 fit of a denim skirt is mostly high waisted.... still short, but not as short as I remember them being in 2005!
Overall, I am a fan of the jean skirt coming back into style! Do you still have a jean skirt in your closet? Would you rock one now?

You totally rock the jean skirt! I admit, I haven't had one in my closet for years, but this updated look - with a little distress, looks great! What you wear with it is also key... Love the fresh white top you chose, very classic! :)

Having been around when we wore then in the 1980s, the only way I'd feel comfortable wearing one today is as a bathing suit coverup with a t-shirt or button-down.
I also used to wear a denim a&f skirt and polo with a popped collar almost every day in high school. I recall my dad once referring to it as a denim belt because there wasn't much material to it. At the time I was so offended, but looking back he was right. So glad there is a bit more to the denim skirt this time around!
