Low Calorie 'Margarita' Cocktail Recipe

Low Calorie 'Margarita' Cocktail Recipe

Low Calorie 'Margarita' Cocktail Recipe

I am not one who likes to drink my calories- especially when it comes to cocktails. I love a good margarita but even when you make them at home with freshly squeezed juices, it's still a high-calorie beverage!

So, I decided to try and create something delicious, light, and low on the calories/sugar! This doesn't necessarily replace a margarita just because it tastes so light, but it's very close!

Here's what you will need:
- Tequila (I prefer Casamigos or Casa Dragones or Don Julio).
- Trader Joe's Organic Jalapeno Limeade
- Trader Joe's Sparkling water with a splash of blood orange/orange juice

Directions:
- Add 1 part tequila and 2 parts Jalapeno Limeade over ice in a shaker
- Shake vigorously
- Pour into a rocks glass over ice
- Top off with Sparkling Water and add a squeeze of fresh lime
- You could rim the glass with salt or a chili-lime salt- but I personally don't like that so I left it off!

It's really easy to make and pretty darn low on calories (comparatively speaking). It's basically like a tequila soda but that splash of Jalapeno limeade and flavored sparkling (that's actually flavored with real juice) is a game-changer and adds so much more flavor!

I gave up drinking last December, so I've been on the hunt for the perfect faux margarita recipe this summer! I would love to try that jalapeƱo limeade and mix it with soda water to see how it tastes. It's hard trying to come up with a suitable replacement for the flavor of tequila, but I'm determined to figure it out!
