Headboard + Bench are Ballard Designs but discontinued fabric

I love our bedroom. It might be one of my favorite rooms in our home. It feels very 'me' and tailored. I always wanted our bedroom to feel light, bright, and serene. I really do feel a sense of calm when I am in the room. Years ago, I stayed at Zero George, a beautiful hotel in Charleston, and loved the vibe of my room. It was mostly light and bright, but it still had some antique brown furniture and touches of blue and white, and that's kind of my inspiration for both this bedroom and our guest bedroom!

Bed
I opted for a headboard instead of a full bedframe for the bed. First, it is much easier to move a headboard than a bed. It's also easier, quicker, and less costly to re-upholster a headboard.

The 'formula' I used to get a somewhat custom look was to use this bed frame base, which allows you to forgo a boxspring entirely. I got the 18" height because I prefer a taller bed. I've been really pleased with this base- it is nice and sturdy! Remember that the standard is 14-15"ish, so it is much easier to find a bed skirt for the standard drop vs. the 18" drop. In hindsight, I'd still go with the taller frame, but I would like a bed skirt with a more custom look. Ballard now makes an 18" bed skirt option, though, which is fantastic.

I got the headboard from Ballard Designs. The quality is exceptional. I love upholstered items from Ballard Designs because you get to pick the fabric and shape of the headboard, so you get a somewhat custom look. They have many other items besides headboards, so you can pick pieces to match. I also got a bench made of the same fabric as the headboard to finish off the bed and tie it together. The fabric and bench and headboard styles have since been discontinued, but they debut new fabrics and silhouettes often!

Bedding + Linens
I always like to do white bedding as I think it's an easy canvas to work from with the rest of the room and easy to care for. I love that it reminds me of a hotel. I have used many brands over the years, but The Company Store remains a constant for linens that are high quality and priced fairly! It is, of course, the maker of the green blanket. I always get asked how I keep the linens white with a pup, and the answer is that I change the sheets twice a week. I also lint roll the bed daily. To do this, I have several sets of bedding so I'm never waiting for something done in the washer or dryer. It makes the rotation seamless.

When it comes to fabrics, I personally prefer 100% cotton percale- cool and crisp! We are in the dead of summer right now and these Sheets are SO lightweight and feel almost refreshing to the touch.

Regardless of the season, I always have a Duvet on the bed. I still use it in the summer months when sleeping, but it often stays at the foot of the bed, and we rely on sheets and a Quilt. This quilt is on sale and is such a good deal. It's so soft and incredibly high quality, and it's the perfect weight, too.

The Duvet is new. We have another Company Store duvet that I bought many years ago, and it's a favorite. This newer duvet has the *best* feature, especially if you sleep with someone else in your bed. I have never seen this done before. My husband typically runs warmer than I do and doesn't need as much warmth as I do when we sleep. This duvet is all one blanket but split down the middle. One side of the duvet is warmer, and one is cooler. We've had these linens for about a month now, and the first night we used them, my husband said it was a game changer because he was never too warm.

Accessories
I haven't made any changes recently. The newest addition to our bedroom is this beautiful 9x12 Rug , but even that update is a year or two old now. It's made of felted wool and has a nice, thick, and soft underfoot. It feels casual but luxurious at the same time.

I got our Striped Curtains from Ballard Designs. I ordered the headboard, bench, curtains, and mirror all at once because they all worked so well together. The curtains are high quality for the price, and I love the simple and serene look they give off. I wanted the headboard and bench to be the room's focal point, so I kept everything else minimal and simple.
