Dermstore is having a sale right now, with up to 25% off select brands. You can use my discount code SUMMERWIND, which will give you the best discount available on all of the site's products (and, on occasion, an even better discount than the code on the site will give you). For example, with the advertsied code on their website, my fave Aesop hand soap is full price as well as my go-to eye patches, but with my code SUMMERWIND, you get a discount! This is a great time so stock up to last you until the Cyber Week sales in late November! Dermstore occasionally has sales, but this is the best one I've seen all year. It's also worth noting that the Sephora sale only goes up to 20% and you have to qualify for that percentage by your yearly spending so this is better than most sales when it comes to skincare!
I have worked with Dermstore in a paid capacity on Instagram several times now (so excited about this as I have been shopping the site for years), and I hope to continue working with them, but this blog post is not a sponsored post! It's a great sale, and you rarely get 25% off these products!
I will share some of my favorite picks with you all! Dermstore gave me this code last year, and it hasn't expired since, which is fantastic because I use it myself! I love it when brands give me a code because it gives me something of value to provide you all with! But anyway, you can use it even during non-sale periods and still get $$ off at checkout. The code changes what it works for from time to time. I don't know the specifics or timeline of the changes, but it doesn't work the same things, so keep that in mind.
These products I am recommending are only things I have used myself and would *highly* recommend. I love skincare and love to try products, but at the end of the day, the most significant thing about skincare is being regimented in your routine regardless of the actual product. I was talking to my girlfriend about this the other night, and she asked me if I ever skip skincare or makeup removal, and I said literally never skip- no matter what! Consistency is the most important thing you can do to ensure your products work to the best of their ability.
It's important to know your skin, too. The same skincare does not work for everybody, and my skincare goals are also likely a bit different than yours! My skin is acne-prone, and I am most focused on hydrating and keeping fine lines as *fine* as possible. My under eyes are my biggest insecurity as I have dark circles, and I feel like that is where I am aging most noticeably! Also, to preface, aging is NORMAL and not a negative. How lucky are we that we get to grow older with every passing day? But it's important to do whatever one wants to feel good and confident. I was highly anxious and stressed in 2020, and those 18 months leading up to our July 2021 wedding aged me about 10 years. Many of you likely feel similarly for various reasons. It makes me personally feel good to invest in my skin. Just like investing in my workouts makes me feel physically and mentally good. That's also to say you do not need to spend buckets of money on skincare. One of my favorite moisturizers is this drugstore brand. I am always sure to have it on hand.
Rich Cream// This is the max percentage AB ever goes on sale and 25% is RARE! This is pricey, and even when it's on sale, it's still expensive. However, it is something I have repeatedly purchased since trying it. I held off on trying it for so long because I didn't want it to be that good, but it is. You can find it on sale several times yearly, so I never pay full price. The story behind this brand is long-winded, so look it up if you are curious because it really is fascinating. I have seen such great results with this cream. It is SO hydrating, and the texture is unlike any other moisturizer I have used. If you want to use one step in your skincare regimen, it could be this because of all its beneficial ingredients. I love to wear it under my makeup, though some think this is too heavy for that- they make a lighter cream that I have yet to try. I also notice that it truly plumps my skin. My fine lines truly lessen after application, and I also notice my pores look smaller. I noticed this after the first use, but it just gets better and better the more you use it. My mom does not like to spend much on skincare, but even she loves this product.
Eye Patches// I use these weekly when I need my under eyes to be plump and depuffed. I have terrible undereye circles and it's a constant source of annoyance for me. It's where I notice I am aging the most. Whenever I use these, my concealer sits better. It's also a savior after a night of sushi or a dirty martini when my face tends to be extra puffy. I love to pack these when traveling. I keep them in the refrigerator at home for an extra cooling effect that feels amazing on tired eyes. I also love to give these as gifts! They make great stocking stuffers. They go on sale often so this is not a rush-to-buy if you are trying to cut back!
Brow and Lash Serum// I once used another lash and brow brand and it turned the skin around my eyes a reddish brown. That reaction is a common side effect with these types of serums as the ingredient, prostaglandin can effect people differently. I swore off of them for a while and tried a few natural options that I liked. This lash serum contains prostaglandin but for some reason, I have no side effects with this. Do your own research on this ingredient. I don't necessarily think it is good, so I try to use this only when I feel my lashes need a boost. It really does work, and it works SO quickly. I was sent this last year so I nervously gave it a shot and it not only works but I see no side effects from this duo! I think the brow serum works better than Revitalash but I find that this lash serum and Revitalash work about the same. So, when it comes to the lash serum, get whatever you can get the best price on but I prefer this brow serum over Revitalash.
Face Wash// I love this cleanser. I used to be a Tula cleanser gal. In my opinion, cleanser is where you can save your money. As long as I find something that cleanses well and is not drying, that's all I care about, and I can focus more on the actives in my serums, toners, and moisturizers. This is a really great standard cleanser. My husband and I both love it. It's gentle but cleanses well and does not dry out my skin.
Lip Color// My sister turned me on to this. For the longest time, I just always assumed this lip product was for teens. I think maybe it's the packaging. This has the color payoff of a lipstick, the nourishing feeling of a balm, and the shine of a gloss. It's truly like a 3-in-1 product, and I can't get enough. It has a coconut scent, which I don't love. I was drinking a glass of champagne once and kept smelling coconut as I was drinking from the glass and throwing my taster off. So that is kind of annoying but, this is so good that I'm willing to look past that.
Vitamin C Serum// I love this vitamin C serum and it is something I purchase over and over and over again. It's not inexpensive and so I try to get it on sale when I can. It goes on sale a few times a year and this is a great price. I've tried so many vitamin C serums over th years and I always come back to this one. It just works. I notice my skin is more even in tone, it keeps my acne at bay, it's hydrating, and just all-around a great, dependable product.
Tinted Eye Cream// This is the best day-time eye cream. I am not a big eye cream gal. I think most are unnecessary because why not just use your moisturizer around your eyes? This one is SO hydrating and has the most subtle tint. When you pump it out of the bottle, it looks almost like foundation but when you put it on your under eyes, it's so subtle and just lightly camoflauges the under eyes. This is a non-negotiable in my skincare routine.
Resurfacing Pads// These peel pads come in a tub instead of individual packets. They are much gentler than the Dennis Gross peel pads. I use them nightly. Anything stronger would dry me out too much, so I like that this is gentle enough for daily use. They have a light but pleasant scent and contain lactic acid, so you get a light chemical exfoliation. I've tried other brands that make gentle peel pads for daily use but always come back to these. These go on sale quite often throughout the year.
Lip Balm// I cannot go to bed without first applying this lip balm. It definitely took some getting used to as it is STICKY. But, the payoff was worth it. I truly notice my lips look plumper the next morning. I also love that it stays on throughout the night. Sometimes, I wake up and it's still on my lips! It's nice and hydrating and just all around a product I have used for many years and cannot imagine nighttime without it!
Retinal// This is a newer skincare product that I have been loving and just included it in my June Favorites list. My dermatologist got me to use retinol a few times and I just could not get past the crazy flakiness. My skin does not take to retinol well, and so, therefore, it has never been a focus for me. This retinal is one of the best products I've ever used. They have a step system where they offer different strengths, and once you use one bottle, you can 'graduate' to the next level. I'm pretty religious about skincare, and I thought my skin looked pretty good, but this made my skin noticeably better. I'm a huge fan now. It's my first product from this brand and I will buy the next level up to see what happens. For the first two weeks of the product, I did have some purging, but it was manageable. I mostly noticed one big zit and some blackheads around my chin. I noticed a little bit of dryness but no flaking. Once those two weeks passed, that's when I really started to notice great results.
Anti-Humidity Hair Spray// I got this in the spring when we went to Mexico for a wedding. I was concerned about the humidity and while this isn't a miracle product, it certainly helped. I'll have this on hand for super humid days and tropical locales but don't use it daily. It smells incredible. You just spray it on after you style your hair.
Spray Sunscreen// I love this sunscreen brand. The branding is what first intrigued me. I just love that vintage look! However, the sunscreen not only works and sprays nicely but it smells SO GOOD. It smells like a topical vacation- a mix of olc school sunscreen and pina colada. It's such a treat to spray! I tried the whipped cream looking sunscreen from this brand and while the novelty of it was fun, it was just that: a novelty and didn't seem practical as I found it a bit messy and hard to deal with.
