Confession: I burned a fall candle this weekend. We had been out all morning grabbing breakfast and running a few errands. When we got home, we had plans to grill, but it started to thunderstorm so I put on some lounge clothes, we got some delicious takeout, and enjoyed the Steeeler's preseason game with no other plans. It was such a relaxing and enjoyable evening and I caved and lit this candle. It was delightful and I have no regrets. But I told myself I wouldn't burn it again until at least September. We still have two weeks left of August and this weekend we have plans to spend it with friends by the pool.
Pittsburgh has been hotter than hot this summer. I don't care for the heat but I love to be outside so that has caused quite the internal conundrum! We got a little taste of milder weather early last week and of course it got hot again, but I soaked it up and did all of the browsing for fall clothing online. It's my favorite season to put together outfits.
I saw this Shirt + Skirt and absolutely fell in love with the beautiful pattern. It could not be more perfect. The mix of colors is vibrant but the black background adds a level of warmth and dressiness. Mille sent me these two pieces and I was like a kid on Christmas morning when I received the package. The print and fabric was even better in person. The fabric is actually like a lightweight dressy silky material.
I'm a big believer in adding pieces to my closet that can be styled many ways. If you find yourself in outfit ruts often, it may be because you are adding pieces to your closet in which you can't style multiple ways. Versatility is key for a wardrobe that feels easy.
When you receive something that you ordered online, when you are trying it on, take an extra 10 minutes and make sure you can style it a few ways with things you already have in your closet. It will help future you!
I styled the Shirt + Skirt six different ways. I wanted to make sure I styled them in ways that I could wear right now. In fact, I plan on wearing the outfit at the top of this pos in Charleston in a few weeks where I am sure it will be 90 degrees still. I also wanted to style it a few ways as we move into October and beyond.
I could have kept going with the styling options and didn't even add in any fun jewelry to my styling but will when I actually wear the outfits. I think the skirt will look fantastic with a black turtleneck. I think the top would look fabulous with jeans and tall boots. So so versatile! Anyway, I'm wearing a small in both pieces and they both run roomy. I think I may need to size down in the skirt. I like the shirt roomy but you could size down for a more fitted look.

LISTEN I am a summer lover through and through and the transition to fall is always bittersweet, even though I also love fall! HOWEVER I do sometimes cheat and burn a fall candle sometimes and feels so good! I also love getting excited for fall fashion and these outfits are so good!! I especially love the skirt, I need to style more "statment" skirts this fall
