Lately

Cozy weekend morning in my down robe

Well, it has been a very busy month thus far, that's for sure! I hope you all have had a great week so far! I can't believe we are over a third through September. Time needs to slow down because this is the best time of the year!

My parents' 40th wedding anniversary is this weekend, which is certainly worth celebrating. I am so glad all six of us will be together. Since my sister and brother-in-law don't live close by, it's even more special when we are all in the same place!

Speaking of anniversaries, tomorrow is my 5 year anniversary doing Orange Theory. I look at it as the definitive start day of my lifetime commitment to exercise. It made me fall in love with working out and has helped my mental health immensureably. I'm not the world's fittest person or an exceptional athlete, but I'm really proud of my commitment and how far I have come over these last five years! I've never ever regretted a workout. I'm telling you, if you are on the fence on whether to start something, just try it. It can't hurt. If you don't like it, you can always move on until you find what is right for you. I will write a longer post all about this because I have so much more to say on the topic!

This week we enjoyed another week of spectacular fall weather. Blue skies, lots of sun, and the perfect cool weather in the mornings and evenings but warm sun in the afternoons. I am so here for it. I want to bottle this up. It puts me in such a great mood. I've noticed some smaller trees starting to change, and I read somewhere that it is because we have had drought-like conditions for a while, so trees will likely change sooner and not be as vibrant, which is sad! This has been the hottest summer I can remember, and by Pittsburgh standards, we have had a ton of sun and very little rain. I hope that the sun decides to stick around this fall and winter because last January was deemed the cloudiest January on record!

The Instagram post I worked on for a dream brand will go live today! It really is a pinch-me moment. I have wanted to work with this brand for the last 15 years! I would love and appreciate your support on the post if you feel so inclined to like and comment! I'll share more of the photos from the collaboration on Monday in a blog post, which isn't part of the project, but since I know many of you are not on Instagram, I wanted to share them here, too!

Wearing: I channeled my inner Samantha Stevens this weekend and wore this outfit out for dinner. It was chilly so it was the perfect excuse to dress autumnal!!

Watching: I started The Perfect Couple on Netflix and could only get through one and a half episodes. I thought it was not worth watching. I think had I not read the book, I would have enjoyed it, but it deviated so much from the book I just didn't like it. I also felt that the wardrobes felt so overly costume-y as if the series was almost a parody of the book. Because there were so many big-name actors and actresses, I thought the acting felt like a Hallmark movie. It just all fell so flat for me. Something good I saw this week was It Ends With Us! I went with a girlfriend earlier this week and we had the entire theater to ourselves. I cannot remember the last time I actually went to the movies. I read the book, and this was one of those rare instances in which I felt the movie lived up to the book. I didn't love the book. I thought it was good, but not great.
Loving: It's slipper season! I got these during spring last year so I didn't have much of a chance to wear them. I am loving them because they're not as heavy/warm as Uggs or any other shearling slipper since the upper portion is just cotton. The monkey print is so fun!

Loving II: I love this pajama set that Lake sent. The cut is different than any other sets. The top and bottoms are wide, making for a very roomy, oversized fit. It doesn't look sloppy, though; it's just very loungey in the best way. I'm wearing a medium, which is my usual cotton Lake size.

Wanting:
I LOVE these shearling boots... also like the moccasin version. Pure coziness! New Sephora favorites sets just launched. They sell out so quickly and are my favorite way to try new products. I want to snag these faux leather pants in both brown and black. Such a great fall and winter staple and I really love the cut. This blackwatch dress is stunning! I have my eye on these brown corduroy pants! Dream coat!

Pittsburgh: We tried a newish Pittsburgh restaurant, Fet Fisk, located on Liberty Avenue in Bloomfield. The menu is Scandinavian-inspired, and while the atmosphere was less than average, the food was incredible enough to land it in my 'best restaurants in Pittsburgh' category. We enjoyed oysters, steak tartare, cabbage, Caesar salad, smoked salmon, trout, roast chicken, and more. Each dish felt familiar but unique. I recommend going with at least a few people so you can order a bunch of plates and share. We went on a double date, so there were four of us! The plates were smaller and perfect for sharing, and the entrees were a la carte with a few sides to choose from. One of the sides is french fries, and I'm not even a huge fry gal, but you must order the fries. They were some of the best I've ever had! The lighting is so red inside that I couldn't get a photo of the food worth sharing.

The above photos are from Balvanera, which I visited on Friday night with some girlfriends. I love Balvanera. It's Argentinian and easily one of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh, both in terms of atmosphere and food and drinks. After dinner, we went to the Taylor Swift candlelight string quartet performance and it was great! This was my second candlelight concert, and I think they're a fun way to enjoy music and do something different!

Amazon Rec: On Tuesday, I shared my September Amazon finds! I pulled my wreath in to clean it up and thought I'd snap a photo to share. I've had this wreath for years, and it's a great size and is of nice quality. It holds up well, and it's versatile, so I can swap out bows for the season. Right now, I just have this white dupioni bow! I find that 'crib bows' work best on wreaths. You get a fullness and correct scale over most ribbon bows! They also tend to be much less costly than ribbons. bows!

I mostly use 'natural' cleaning products, but for the longest time, my windows and mirrors have never been clean enough. I caved and ordered this window and glass spray that is, I'm sure, full of chemicals, but wow, does it work SO well. It's easily the best glass cleaner I have ever used.
