During my holiday break, I watched a lot of TV. I like to watch TV, but my consumption really ebbs and flows. I had been so busy in Q4 I hadn't really watched much, so I had a lot to catch up on. I also watch more TV in the winter when I'm hunkered down, hiding from the cold.
I am always looking for a recommendation, so I thought I'd share these if you want something to watch! I'd love your comments with recommendations!
Juror #2 on HBO
This is a movie. It was good; I would recommend it. It was a little hollow in some ways, but it kept my attention overall. It's about a guy who serves on a jury for the death of a woman... If I share more, I will spoil it!
Squid Game seasons 1 and 2 on Netflix
We had seen the first season, but I'm glad we re-watched it as it had been years, and we didn't remember much of it. The second season builds on the first, so I'd recommend re-watching the first season and then going straight into the second season. The first season is SO good. I forgot just how good. The first two episodes of the second season are different, and I almost quit, but once you get past those first two seasons, it becomes good. There are only 7 episodes in the second season because they are releasing it in two parts. The end of the second season was a cliffhanger, and I think the season wasn't long enough/not enough story. They should have kept going for another episode or two. But I am looking forward to the second part of season 2!
Lionness on Paramout+
This is a CIA-type show that reminds me of Homeland. I haven't finished this yet, but we are enjoying it. Some action scenes and a lot of drama scenes as well.
The Day of the Jackal on Peacock
Behind Squid games, this was my favorite. It's a thriller/action show about a European assassin. It was one of those shows I wanted to keep watching, even if it was bedtime.
Missing You on Netflix
I just finished This Harlan Coben series after seeing so many rave about it on social media. I generally like all of the Harlan Coben shows I have watched in the past. This is about a detective in England on a missing person's case that goes way deeper. Coben generally creates 'similar' shows, but they are all intriguing enough to keep me hanging on! The ending was a bit blah, but still good and worth the watch.
90 Day Fiancé Before the 90 Days on TLC
I could not forget about 90 Day Fiancé Before The 90 Days on TLC. This is a reality TV show I picked up watching during the pandemic, and I cannot look away. This season is BONKERS. The premise is that 2 people meet, whether online or another way, and they live in different countries. The 'before the 90 days' chronicles the time before their engagement or marriage.
The Pitt on HBO
I just started this, as it is a weekly series. I was so intrigued because it is a medical drama set in Pittsburgh! I had no idea they were filming this, but even in the first 10 minutes of the first episode, there are so many beautiful, sweeping shots of the city. For that alone, I'm enjoying it.
Teacup on Peacock
I started this show because my sister recommended it. I enjoyed the first few episodes, but then it got really weird, and I lost interest. There are 8 episodes, and I got to episode 4 or 5. I feel like this had so much potential. If you like sci-fi/thriller/horror, this might be a good fit for you.
Two shows I'm looking forward to?
Severance on Apple TV
This comes out Friday, January 17th, and then a new episode is released every Friday through March 21st. I'm debating whether I want to watch the first episode immediately or let a few accumulate and then watch a few in a row. If you haven't seen it, the first season is available. We have watched it twice now. It's one of the best shows I've ever watched. It's a science-fiction/dystopian drama that is so bizarre.
The Night Agent on Netflix
This comes out on January 23rd. We watched the first season last year. I don't remember a lot of the previous season, but I remember that we enjoyed it. It's an FBI thriller-type show.
White Lotus on HBO
This is the third season and is set to come out on February 16th. It's set in Thailand. I've loved the past two seasons, which are murder mysteries in beautiful settings.
Landman on Paramount+
This is a 10-episode Western show set in Texas about the oil industry. I am not a big Western gal, but this gets good reviews. The entire season is out now.
