Lately

Cannot believe it's February already! Cutest calendar via Karen Adams. Also loving this little trinket dish

The cutest jelly sandals. Takes me back to the early 90s! Will be the perfect beach/pool shoe!

A few photos from a great ski day last week! We went to 7 Springs and the conditions were great!

This has been a very low-key week so far! I've enjoyed the nicer weather we have had with lots of outdoors walks, done a few workouts, lots of computer work and really nothing new to report over here!

We told ourselves we need to cook at home more- a constant struggle so we did a big Costco run this weekend and have been making some delicious meals at home which has been nice!

Ironically, we are going out for dinner tonight... and tomorrow! Tomorrow I'm going out with a girlfriend for drinks and dinner and the Taylor Swift candlelight quartet performance. If you remember, I saw this already with a few other girlfriends this past fall but I'm seeing it again since my one friend has not seen it!

I have a lot of miscellaneous things that I have been putting off so I will hopefully get to all of that this weekend at some point! We are watching my parent's pup, Buddy, this weekend which will be fun. He is the sweetest and I just love him! Henry will be annoyed not to be the center of attention but they tolerate each other well.

Wearing: Cutest Pullover I wore to Orange Theory this week! I sized up to a medium.

Are you following me on the LikeToKnowIt app?! You can shop all of my outfits, favorite finds, and more in the app. I am constantly updating it with the latest! You can also access all of my posts, here, if you don't use LTK! You can also find me on ShopMy, another shopping platform!

Eating: I love beets. I have loved them since I was very young because my mom still teases me about when I was a toddler, I would call beets cookies! Anyway, I love pickled beets the most and so many brands are overly sweet. I found this brand at Whole Foods and they're the best picked beets I have ever had. They are still somewhat firm and crisp and I think that's because these are not in a brine so they don't get soggy. They're also only made with vinegar so there is no sweetness. I cannot get enough!! Make sure you get the ones labeled 'classic vinegar' as there were a few different kinds to choose from.

Watching:
I randomly came across this Red Bull video of a guy who skied down k2. Before I watched this video, I knew absolutely nothing about climbing, mountaineering, mountains, etc., but since then, I've been utterly fascinated with all of it. I've been reading and watching everything I can get my hands on about climbing the tallest mountains in the world (aka eight-thousanders). I can't fathom climbing any mountain, let alone something like Mt. Everest or K2. I have so much to say about this topic now that I've been learning so much about it.

It is (obviously) insanely challenging, but the journey *just* to Everest's or K2's base camp is extreme (to me, at least). All of the equipment you need to buy is also wild. I noticed that the people who were summiting all of these mountains had on the same suits, and the suits are around $2k each, which is just one item among SO many that you need. You also pay fees to the government to summit these mountains and hire Sherpas. This blog is fascinating; he goes through the cost of gear alone. I cannot wrap my head around the time required to summit Everest. You need a week just to get to base camp and many more weeks to acclimate, and it ends up being a few months that you need for the entire expedition.

On top of that, there is a lack of oxygen and how the body responds to altitude like that. I have no desire to hike anything, not even our local trails! But I'm utterly fascinated by it all. If you'd also like to be fascinated by it, check out Rebecca Long's blog. I have been enjoying reading it! I've also been watching a Discovery channel series from 2004 called Ultimate Survival: Everest, which is a documentary that chronicles journeys to the summit. I watched Into Thin Air but just thought it was OK. I have the book on deck to read, and I've heard it is much better than the movie.

Watching II: A total pivot from Everest, I watched the first episode of Scamanda, a documentary on Hulu/Disney+. I listened to the podcast on the way down to Georgia one year. It's a long podcast, but it tells the story of a woman who fakes cancer. It's absolutely crazy and gets crazier as it goes on. Since the podcast, this documentary just came out. There is only one episode so far.

Loving: My face and body need all the moisture it can get! The air is so dry and it always affects my skin this time of year. These are two products I've been loving lately for extra moisturizer. The Outset is a new-to-me brand. It's a no frills brand with clean ingredients and no scents. The dry oil is amazing and what I've been using on top of my moisturizer for an added dose. You can also use it on your hair and nails. The Extreme Cream is a moisturizer I've talked about before as I've been using it for many months. I love it and am nearly onto my second bottle.

Wanting:
This pink shirt and dress are PERFECTION. Definitely added to the cart! This short wool coat is such a classic. This dress is blue and white perfection, as is this maxi skirt. An absolutely stunning cocktail dress under $250. This lamp is giving Serena and Lily but under $100. This blue and white striped set is similar to a J.Crew set I have from last year and love and wear often in the warmer weather.  This gorgeous scarf is calling my name. If you like dogs, you need to click over to this toilet paper holder. It's hilarious, but also... I kind of want it! I just found out you can shop for LK Bennett on Nordstrom! I love this plate shirt. Yes, you read that right, 'plate shirt.' I'm not a Jacquemus fan, but this gold clutch is so cool.
Pittsburgh: Vanilla Pastry Shop has the best cupcakes. The chocolate cupcakes (the one with the lighter brown icing) are some of the best chocolate cupcakes I have ever had. It was such a treat when my husband brought these home last week! They're in East Liberty so I rarely get them!

Amazon Rec: Did you catch my post from yesterday with lots of great Amazon finds?! I also just updated my at-home gel manicure page with all of the products I am using!

You can find more of my Amazon favorites, here on my Amazon page where I am constantly updating it with all of my finds and top picks from home, beauty, fashion, and more!

Smelling: I was trying to pull out my candle drawer in our credenza. It often gets stuck. I was pulling hard, trying to yank it open and I pulled too hard and the very heavy drawer came flying out and crashing down to the ground. The candles inside came tumbling out and shattered once they hit the floor, sending glass everywhere. My husband wasn't home so I was also trying to make sure Henry stayed put and didn't venture into the shards of glass! It was such a nightmare to clean up. Many of my favorite candles had to be thrown out including some votives and such. Not a big deal, but was glad these two were not casualties. I haven't even lit the Jardin de Paris candle yet but it's so fragrant and smells divine.... just like spring.
