The Best Casual Dress

This blog post is a love letter to my favorite casual summer dress. I almost titled this post 'The Best Casual Athletic Dress' but decided against that because while this dress can be worn in an 'athletic way' and you could wear it doing certain sports, you can also style it in a non-athletic way! \

I wear athletic clothing a lot more in the summertime than in the winter because I am much more active. I go on multiple walks daily, do workout classes, play pickleball with friends, have picnics, go to farmers' markets, etc. I am always looking for athletic clothing that is cuter than your average shorts and a tee and this dress is one of those perfect pieces that blends practicality and style well. I wore this dress constantly last summer. 

I have this dress in black with white piping and solid red, but this year, they have come out with blue and white stripes. It's like they KNEW I loved this dress so much, and the only thing they could do to make it better was to offer it in my favorite striped combo. There is a striped version from last year that looks to still be in stock in just a few sizes if you want to try to snag that for just $20. 

This dress is made of thick, silky-smooth jersey-knit fabric. It's similar to the Spanx Air Essentials and the Varley Double Soft fabric, if you are familiar with either. The quality is also that of the higher-priced brands. The fabric is fantastic for traveling because it doesn't wrinkle. Although it is thick, it's not warm, which is excellent for the sometimes brutal summer heat. 

The dress has pockets that are actually usable. The length is perfect. I am 5'6"and never feel exposed if I need to bend over or move a lot. There is room to wear bike shorts underneath, but you don't need them unless you are looking for some added coverage, such as when playing tennis. 

The sizing is true to size, but I sized up to a medium for a roomy fit. While the medium is a touch big, it's comfortable. If I had planned to style it without sneakers in a nicer way, I would have gotten the small.  

I hate to use urgent messaging, but this is one of those things that will sell out quickly. It did last year.
