In the winter months, my husband and I naturally spend more time at home. Even then, I like to make everyday moments feel a bit more special. We often put together charcuterie boards or simple 'snack dinners,' usually made up of whatever we have on hand in the fridge. Even when it is just the two of us, I enjoy setting things out as if we were having people over.
That same mindset carries over when we actually host. There are a handful of small kitchen serving pieces I rely on again and again, especially when putting together a cheeseboard or charcuterie board. They are easy to overlook, and on their own, they may seem unremarkable. But used together, these pieces can really elevate even the most ordinary Tuesday night 'snack dinner'.
I think these look so much more expensive than they were! I have two, and the glass is so crystal clear, it reminds me of Simon Pearce. The size is perfect for dips, a small serving of chips, olives, and more. I even use them as tea light holders. I love the scale of these.
Also, as a fun tip, the other night, I put the Whole Foods peanut butter-filled pretzels in the bowl, which was the perfect size. The game-changer is dipping it into jam. We love the Bonne Maman four fruits. It tastes just like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and is the perfect sweet treat.
These are small bowls that are advertised as individual appetizer bowls for a party display. Great for that, I'm sure, but I would call them condiment bowls. They're the perfect size for things like honey or jam on a cheeseboard, but also perfect for ranch, ketchup, etc., on a dinner plate. Often, I put pickles or olives in a bowl as a little afternoon snack for myself. The size is so versatile, and like the bowl above, I love how clear the glass is. They're inexpensive, too.
I know I've talked about these little silver bowls many times before. I bought these at an estate sale years ago. I have several and use them for an afternoon snack for just myself, dips, nuts, crackers, olives, and much more. Because I got these at an estate sale, I can't link my exact bowls. However, the bowls I am linking to look nearly identical in terms of style and size. I have seen them in person, and they are beautiful. I often use these outside of a cheeseboard, just when I set out a few little snacks, when I'm not doing a whole meat and cheese situation, because they look so pretty on their own.
Similar Small Cracker Basket (I actually like this one better than the one I have)
This little basket is another item I've had for years. I am pretty sure I bought it from Crate and Barrel, but sadly, it doesn't look like they make it anymore. However, the one I am linking to is actually made for crackers, and I think it's cuter than what I have! Anyway, any small basket will do. I always line the basket with one of these linen-like disposable napkins, since you can't really clean it. I really love the mix of textures with all of these pieces. The rattan, silver, and glass all work well together.
I use these silver coasters as coasters, sure, but they're so pretty, I try to use them for more than just setting a drink down. I love them as a candle coaster. Sometimes I even use them as a mini plate on a platter, with something like blueberries or grapes, or even a wheel of Boursin (it fits perfectly).
