Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale began yesterday for Icon cardholders.  I spent last week giving the Sale a really good once-over during the preview.

Tuesday, July 14th// Early Access Icon Level Cardmembers
Wednesday, July 15th// Early Access Ambassador Level Cardmembers
Thursday, July 16th// Early Access Influencer Level Cardmembers
Saturday, July 18th// Public Access
Sunday, August 9th// Sale Ends

You don't need a promo code. The prices are all as marked and will return to full price on August 10th. I feel like we all know the drill by now. No one needs to know 'how' to shop this sale!!

This blog post will be the only one dedicated to the Nordstrom sale, but you can also stay up to date with me on Instagram, the LTK app, and on ShopMy

My First Impression
Last year, I thought the sale felt stale, which was in line with my thoughts for the last several years. I had renewed hope, though, because last year Nordstrom was delisted from the NYSE and is now a private company again. Given the timing of the transition last year, it was too soon to notice anything different in the Nordstrom Sale. This year, I'm really not seeing the improvement I was hoping for. Nothing overly fresh or thrilling. There is so much repetition year-over-year and so much in-house Nordstrom brand inventory.

It’s not that the deals are bad or the prices outrageous, but unless there’s a fall piece I absolutely have to have, I’m not ready to buy ahead. The retail calendar has undergone significant changes over the years. By the time we’re actually dressing for fall in October, many of these same pieces may already be marked down again.

I almost skipped this post entirely! I kept scrolling through the thousands of items, but very little was jumping out at me. However, I do feel a sense of nostalgia with the sale, which keeps me doing an annual Nordstrom sale post. This used to be *the thing*. I would wake up at 3am to peruse the selection since they didn't give us this preview period. I remember how badly I wanted a pair of Tory Burch riding boots one year! Don't get me wrong, there are still some cute finds, and it's also a great opportunity to snag a new bra or restock your sock drawer or your favorite perfume.

I went through every single thing in the women's, shoes, skincare, beauty, and home categories. I am extremely discerning with these picks. I only include things I've either tried and loved or products I may purchase or think are a really good deal. Here are the Spark Notes, if you will...

- Love to see a big Barbour selection. None of the classic styles they are known for, but some really pretty pieces. In particular, this Black Barbour Rain Jacket caught my eye.

- I have and love this Curling Iron. It goes on sale often, so there's no need to rush to buy it. If you are looking for a curling iron, I've been using it for years.

- Love this Travel Jewelry Storage setup. I actually pack my jewelry in a similar but much less aesthetically pleasing way.

- This Foundation is soooo $$$$$. I see people rave about it, so it's definitely on my radar. Even on sale, it's steep. Part of me doesn't even want to try it because what if I end up loving it?!

- Love my Roller Carry-On and this burgundy is such a pretty color! I have navy blue, and I swear, every other bag that goes onto the luggage belt is a navy Away bag, so it's hard to tell my bag from the next. I think this burgundy shade would stand out better.

- I was pleased to see these Woven Leather Flats from one of my favorite shoe brands. I'm not into the mesh/jelly trend, but I think this is adjacent to that!

- An honorable mention that did not make the collage cut is this suede handbag
