This One's For the Boys

I am always doing posts mainly directed toward the female readers, however, I thought I'd address what a classic guy should have in his wardrobe! I made several Polyvores that highlight what every guy should have at least one of:

Some essentials of a man's everyday, casual wardrobe include: Nantucket reds (and any other colored chino!), khakis, Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren Dress shirts and oxfords (also think Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, etc.), Patagonia fleece pullover and vest, waxed cotton jacket (think Barbour, Burberry, LLBean, Brooks Brothers), Navy 2 button blazer, and Half zip pullovers .

Men's Essentials by summerwind41490 on Polyvore.com

These are casual shoes. Think Bass weejuns and brown bucks, driving mocs, New Balance 993, Duck Boots, and Boat Shoes. For summer months think rainbow sandals, madras J. Crew/Vineyard Vines sandals.

Lastly is accessories: cummerbund and bow tie set, monogrammed cufflinks, croakies, LLBean backpack, cooler, flask, nice wallet (Ralph Lauren, Ermengildo Zegna, Burberry, etc.), pocket squares, needlepoint belts or critter belts,  koozies... and I don't know how I left out watches (my absolute favorite accessory for both men and women).

What do you think the necessities for a classic guy include? Of course I am not a guy so I am in no way an expert, so let me know! Don't forget to enter my Coast and Canter Giveaway!!! Have a fabulous day!

Fall Favorites

Since it is finally October, I thought it would be a perfect time to share with you my fall 2010 favorites! I have so many favorites that it's hard to pick and choose but here are my top must haves:
Dark nail polish. I recently tried Urban Outfitters nail polish and it is just perfect. I tried the Purple 1 color and it's a nice deep, dark plum, perfect for fall and surprisingly doesn't look too purple, it's more of a Cabernet or Merlot color (this BlackBerry picture makes the color look brown, but it's definitely a deep plum).

Brown leather boots. I just put my order in for these exact boots on Sunday, so I cannot wait to get them in the mail and try them out. A friend recommended this brand (Madden Girl by Steve Madden) for an inexpensive pair of "western influenced" boots. My family is going to laugh at me while reading this because my freshman year of college, I swore to my parents that I was not going to own "cowboy" boots... well three years later and look how that's changed! They are so versatile and a much more put together option than Ugg boots. I like to think of Ugg boots as an alternative to slippers. They can be worn to the library or a casual Sunday, or around your house, but other than that, I think they dress down an outfit a lot. I also have a pair of black riding boots that I absolutely love and I am on the lookout for a very good quality pair of brown leather riding boots so suggestions are more than welcome! These are currently my number one choice for brown riding boots but I am also going to look at Lands End and L.L. Bean.
Philosophy Pumpkin Spice Muffin Lipgloss. If you follow me on Twitter this is probably overkill by now, but this is the best lip gloss. I am obsessed with pumpkin anything and this has just the right amount of flavor and scent and the caramel apple flavor adds a nice touch of sheer color. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and it would make such a fun little Halloween gift for someone!
Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Lotion. This is hands down the best hand lotion ever. I have had it in the Rosewood, Lavender, La Source, and Summer Hill scents and I love them all. I would have to say that the Lavender or the La Source are my favorites. I like to put this on right before bed and when I wake up in the morning. So perfect for the fall and winter months when hands get dry!
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is THIS month! All month long my sorority works so hard putting on events to raise money for BCA. It's really near and dear to my heart. If you would like more information, there is a tab at the top that says "Philanthropy" and you can learn all about it by clicking the tab!

Other favorites that almost made the list are:
-Duck Boots
-Patagonia Vests (also known as Fratagonia... love the play on words)
-Gold Jewelry
-Pearls, pearls, and more pearls
-Croakies and Koozies (some of my sorority sisters and I have deemed these a necessary part of a college girl's accessories!)

What are your current fall favorites? I'd love to know! Have a fabulous Tuesday! Don't forge to enter my Coast and Canter giveaway! It ends this Sunday and you don't want to miss out!

Coast and Canter

I have to tell you all about a great company: Coast and Canter. Brendan, the creator and owner, who I actually met through a really good friend of mine in my sorority. His company has just started and he already has a great product: The Seaside Pocket T-shirt. As of right now, the t-shirt is in men's sizes only, however, Brendan sent me one and I have to tell you, it is so well made. Being a girl, I would wear it to lounge around in or wear over my bathing suit. For a guy, this is definitely a shirt to wear every day. The fabric is so soft and I love that it is tag-less so there is no itch. The best part about this T is the price. It is only $34.99 which is most definitely a good price in my book. This would make such a great gift for your father, brother, boyfriend, or any guy in your life. As his company grows, he will be offering things for girls, so stay on the lookout, ladies! The logo is a sea horse, and I LOVE it, partly because I love anything to do with the water! He also sent me croakies and a koozie, and as you all already know, I am a koozie collector. I might as well add croakies to my collection list because I am starting to acquire a number of them as well.
This is one way that I love this T-shirt. How perfect to throw over a bathing suit. I also would love it on a guy with khaki shorts, a critter belt, and boat shoes.
This is the shirt, koozie, and croakies that Brendan graciously sent to me. Jealous? Well you won't need to be for long. Brendan is offering up one of his Seaside Pocket T-shirts, a koozie, and croakies to my lovely readers! How generous is that! All you need to do is:
1. "Like" Coast and Canter on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Coast-Canter/128303877205151
2. Go to the Coast and Canter website and pick out which color Seaside Pocket T you would like!
3. If you would like an extra entry, either post about this giveaway or add it to your side bar-- Make sure you let me know you did this!

Both entries are mandatory so let me know you did both in one comment! This giveaway will end Sunday, October 10, 2010 at midnight and I will announce a winner on Monday, October 11. Good luck to you all! Thank you again to Brendan at Coast and Canter!

Happy October: A Pumpkin Recipe

Happy October to everyone! I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and celebrate the new month! Time is flying by! It feels like just yesterday I was laying by the pool at the country club-- oh how I miss it! Here is an excerpt from a post from last October that I thought would be perfect to share with you all again: Paul's Pumpkin Bars! (click here for original post)

A few years back, my mother came across this amazing recipe for pumpkin bars. They are called Paul's Pumpkin bars. As I've said in previous posts, I am in love with everything pumpkin. What better time for me to share this recipe with you all than fall! These are quick and easy to make, and the icing is delicious!! They are perfect to take to a fall bon-fire, a birthday treat for your child to bring to school, to send to your favorite college student, or just to spice up any dessert time or breakfast (yes I eat them in the morning with coffee, they pair so well together!).

INGREDIENTS
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 2/3 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ICING:
  • 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium bowl, mix the eggs, sugar, oil, and pumpkin with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Stir into the pumpkin mixture until thoroughly combined.
  3. Spread the batter evenly into an ungreased 10x15 inch jellyroll pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in preheated oven. Cool before frosting.
  4. To make the frosting, cream together the cream cheese and butter. Stir in vanilla. Add confectioners' sugar a little at a time, beating until mixture is smooth. Spread evenly on top of the cooled bars. Cut into squares.

My parents are coming down next weekend and I cannot wait to have my mom bring me some of these bars. She always makes them best! Have a fabulous weekend!!!
Yours,
sCe
