J. McLaughlin Courtney Striped Dress and Silk Scarf

I want to sing from the rooftops about J.McLaughlin's Courtney dress. I got it last week and I've already worn it three times! I wore it while at the lake for drinks and dinner at Brasstown Valley Resort, which is where these photos were taken. I've also worn it to run errands and grab a quick lunch with a friend and then again to work.

The material is a thick, uber soft cotton... kind of like a thick jersey material. It's structured enough for work but plenty comfortable enough to even just run around town in while running errands. Not to mention, it was easy breezy in the late afternoon Georgia heat! I love it paired with the bright scarf. The pop of orange really adds a note of summer into the dress. I think the scarf really looks similar to Hermes, but the best part is that this is a fraction of the price! Come fall, I can't wait to wear a black cashmere cableknit, black skinny pants, ballet flats and then throw on the scarf as the piece de resistance!

The #1 reason I love this dress so much is that because I work in an office setting, I pretty much sit all day. I never realized it until recently, but I'll iron something in the morning and after about an hour or two sitting at my desk, I'll be a wrinkled mess! It drives me nuts so I specifically avoid certain things in my closet that are prone to wrinkles! This dress NEVER wrinkles. I packed it to bring home from Georgia and pulled it out of my suitcase without a single wrinkle. I wore it all day at work and it looked freshly pressed even at the end of the day! That's a big win in my book. I also can't wait to wear this dress as the temps cool down with a pretty sweater or blazer over top! Can't wait to see more of J.McLaughlin's New Arrivals for fall, but for now, definitely check out their sale as you can get an extra 20% off! Have a fabulous day!

Nautical Style + Gauzy Beach Pants !

Striped Shirt (old, similar)// Gauze Beach Pants

I basically wore a  variation of this outfit every morning when we headed down the 15 steps to the dock (see instagram post here with a slight variation) last week. I bought these 'beach' pants  on sale on a whim and I am so glad I did. If you are looking for a gauzy, easy, chic coverup, then this is it and the price can't be beat, too! I will say, these are strictly a coverup as you can see through them quite a bit-- but it totally works with a bathing suit!

I loved them for the lake in the mornings, when you need to be a little more covered up due to the chillier mountain temps. I would often go down to the boat with a book and sit on the dock enjoying the morning until it was time for lunch. Once lunch time rolled around, it was hot, hot, hot and time to shed the coverup layers and lay out to catch some rays. Can everyday be like that? Coffee, reading, tanning, swimming, boating, cocktails, repeat? Sounds ideal to me!

I rotated between this giant canvas tote (which I also use as a carry on for flights) because it could hold anything I would need for the day, and this striped nylon tote with leather accents which is smaller. I am glad to report, that I actually set aside a lot of reading time and got through three books! Have a fabulous day

Lilly Pulitzer New Arrivals + Shift Dress Styled

Lilly Pulitzer Annabelle Shift Dress and Design Darling Tassel Earrings

Lisi Lerch Tassel Earrings

You've probably seen this dress on my Instagram a bunch already. It's seriously my favorite Lilly of the summer. It's easy to wear, flattering and the mix of blues is the best part! It was the perfect thing to wear while out on the water at the lake. It worked for daytime paired with Jacks, and then for evening/dinner, I changed into wedge espadrilles.

I've also worn this dress to the country club for lunch, a baby shower and out for drinks and dinner downtown with girlfriends. If it works for that many different occasions, then it's a good buy in my book!

This style/cut is also available in some other prints and colorways. Shop my favorites below:

And, you guys, Lilly Pulitzer's new arrivals are AMAZING. I haven't loved a collection this much in a while. I cannot get enough of this blue print top that reminds me of Dolce and Gabbana's blue tile print, these running shorts (yes RUNNING SHORTS!), yoga capris (just ordered these!), and lastly, this ruffle hemmed top is the cutest. Shop the rest of my favorites below.

Have a fabulous day!

What I'm Loving

I'm not going to lie. I am really really trying to resist shopping fall right now. I love summer. I love being tan and not having to bundle up. I love al fresco dinners of wine and caprese salad on the patio. I love getting out of work while it is still light out and wearing sweatshirts on on the beach. I love double scoop cones, drive in movies, loud Lilly prints and Jack Rogers. Gin and tonics are extra delicious on an 85 degree day and I've never met a lounge chair by the pool that I didn't like.

I'm not really ready to welcome in fall, but here's the thing... It's my favorite season. My absolute favorite. I think I get lumped into loving summer the most because, well, my blog is named Summer Wind. Butttttt, if you've been reading here for a while, then you'll know my blog is named after my favorite Frank Sinatra song, rather than the season. Don't get me wrong, Summer I love you, but it's really fall that I love the most

So I'm going to take my love affair with fall, slowly. First starting off with just a few things that I'm loving. Most are summery... but I added just a dash of fall ;) Have a fabulous day!
