Cartier Tank Watch

I have always been a huge fan of the classic Cartier tank watch with the leather strap. It's truly timeless, superior quality and elegant.

In the past year or two, I've been very strategic and choosey when it comes to adding anything fashion related to my closet. I like steals and deals, definitely, but I also know that $50 denim and a $50 cable sweater is going to look a million times better when paired with a gorgeous classic leather handbag, or a simple pair of diamond or pearl studs, or a cashmere wrap. Bottom line? Splurge on only a few classic pieces (mainly accessories that can be worn again and again) and pair with everything else. It will make you feel like a million bucks, and you'll probably have spent less in the end!

I have a few nice watches, but now that I'm almost 25 (not ready to let go of 24 just yet...), I feel like I'm ready for a sophisticated and classic timepiece and the Cartier tank is where my head is at.

This is the one I am eyeing. It's very understated and simple. It's definitely something I plan to wear daily. I know the leather strap is the more classic way to go, but I really like the dressier feel that the bracelet band has. Do you have a tank watch? Are you a quality over quantity shopper? Have a fabulous day!

Yours,

I have a Raymond Weil watch that I've had for almost 20 years, it has served me well, and I'm ready for something new, but just can't find anything I like better. I agree on spending money on things you wear daily like nice earring and a nice watch.

Coach has an almost identical watch to this Cartier. My parents got it for my for college graduation years ago. I love it. Cartier is super nice, too!

That's actually the exact one that I bought myself for my 25th birthday! I got my initials sand the date engraved on the back. I have absolutely zero regrets; almost three years later it keeps perfect time and I am proud of myself every time I look at my wrist. I highly, highly recommend it. Ruelala and 1stDibs have a lot of watch options if you're looking for something more vintage.

I've recently become a quality shopper (current eyeing a Chanel Wallet on Chain bag) but my trick is to buy consignment! I have been amazed at the quality and the deals available. I would highly recommend looking to find a watch on consignment before you pay full retail value (and tax!). Plus, some of the vintage styles are super cool. One Kings Lane has some cool vintage watches as well as other sites like The Real Real. Good luck with your investment piece!

My parents gifted me that watch as a college graduation present and it really is such a timeless and memorable piece!

I have a vintage one with the leather strap and it's definitely more casual, but if you know you have more formal events to go to, the platinum band may be the best option. Plus, if it's your first timepiece, there's no harm in splurging! There's also lots of used options like on tradsey and fashionphile

I have an Ebel watch, and recently added a Rolex Datejust. Would love to add a Cartier Ballon Bleu to my collection one day.

Definitely go for a Cartier! I bought a vintage Panther for my 21st and it is one of my favourite pieces. I also bought a leather strap tank last year- I wear it every day and I'll use it forever. The best investments I've made!
