Little Things

'Enjoy the little things because one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.’

I have chatted many times about practicing gratitude daily. Still, another life-enriching thing I love to do is remind myself of the beauty of the minutiae of daily life. I've shared these little moments with you here and there over the many years I've been blogging, and we are long overdue for another!

When your favorite song comes on and you feel ALIVE!

The sound of the sunroof opening for the first time in a long time on a warm and sunny winter's day.

The sound of your skis carving into fresh snow.

Dogs when they get the zoomies.

When you try something on and it is the *perfect* fit.

Coming home to your coffee maker and a cup of coffee made *exactly* how you like it after being away.

Your favorite blanket fresh from the dryer.

'Love you' at the end of a call.

A fresh pair of slippers.

A much-needed car wash.

Henry's cold, pebbled nose waking me up in the morning.

A weekend with no plans.

The excitement leading up to a trip.

The exhausted, depleted- but revived feeling after a good workout.

Ice chips in a martini.

Freshly cleaned jewelry.

When you see someone you love light up with genuine happiness and excitement.

New underwear and socks and bras.

Wearing something you love and realizing you've had it for 10+ years.

When you pull a shirt out of your closet that you thought needed to be ironed but doesn't.

When you have the row to yourself on a flight.

3 drinks at once: one for caffeine, one for hydration, and one for fun.

Bagpipes.

The sound of a mourning dove on an early summer morning.

The first rinse of a spray tan.

Wrapping up in quality cashmere.

A high-up city view at night.

The comfort of very oversized sweatshirts.

When you receive exceptional service.

When something makes you realize the world is huge.

When something makes you realize the world is small.

The sound of the symphony tuning their instruments/ warming up.

Snagging a last-minute reservation at a favorite restaurant.

When you see kindness in action.

When you smile at a stranger and they smile back.
I know dangerous in these times but I want to believe in better angels.
