A few weeks ago I popped into our local Talbots to see what they had. I hadn't been in a Talbots in a while and haven't been too impressed in the past.
I used to work at Talbots Kid's in high school and loved it. I really enjoyed getting a 40% discount on Talbots and regularly shopped there. At one point, Talbots went down hill, but after my recent trip, I am thoroughly impressed.
It is very clear to me that they are trying to appeal to a younger demographic which may be a disappointment to many of their past shoppers. Hemlines have risen, necklines have fallen and many of their pants are figure flattering for a young 20-something. However, they do still offer classic silhouettes and great basics.
I made out great in Talbots and stocked my winter wardrobe with sales and picked up some fun things for the summer... Here are some iPhone snaps of some things I didn't purchase but wish I would have!
I think this navy and white top would look perfectly crisp with white pants and gold accessories for a classic summer look but also look fabulous with colored denim or chino shorts for a young, updated look.
This top reminded me of something that Samantha from Bewitched would wear. It's a bit 60's with the bow and the cut but also creates a flattering silhouette. I picture this with navy or black for a spring/fall look and then white or green for a fun summer look.
I love love love this top. Looking at this picture makes me want to run back to Talbots and purchase it. They sold denim in all of the colors that are in this top so I think it would be fun to pair this top with colored denim. It would also look fabulous with white in the summer and then denim (or black trousers) in the spring/fall.
Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

I love the first and second top! I think I may have to get them!
Those tops are so adorable! I feel like Talbots can be pretty hit or miss. In the fall they had some great jewel-toned tops, pants and dresses, but I wasn't crazy about any of their spring stuff. Have a lovely weekend!
I'm so glad I found your blog. I fall in love with every post!

I worked at a Talbots in Louisville and loved it! I agree that they went downhill. I'm glad to see they are reviving themselves!
It's actually been my mother's store for as long as I can remember! That navy and white top is super cute. :)
Loving all of these!! I am going to have to pop in!
