So Charming

The other night, I was spending time at my Grammie's house and she showed me her gorgeous, custom charm bracelet that she has had for a very long time! I had to snap some photos because of how gorgeous each charm is and to show how timeless a charm bracelet is.

Clockwise from top left: My grandparent's house, a calendar with a stone in the date, the back of the calendar with her initials, a Hofbrauhaus stein because my grandparents visited the one in Germany.
I love that each charm is so personalized. My grandfather's friend specialized in engraving and my grandfather gave each charm to my Grammie as gifts. The one of my grandparents house is definitely my favorite, which got me to thinking that cCm and I need to have charms made with Mac's face on them (too cute!!).

Clockwise from top left: my Grammie's monogram, the back of the monogram which was given to her on Valentine's Day, 1962, a cut-out monogram which was given to her on Easter 1964.
These two charms look very similar to charms that you can purchase today, proving that gold monogram jewelry is a staple in any woman's jewelry collection!
Clockwise from top left: Africa because my grandfather went there on business frequently, a plane to represent one of their many trips to Florida, hands in prayer, the back of the hands in prayer is a beautiful prayer.
I have a charm bracelet but no charms! I actually don't like dangling on my wrist because of the noise it makes and how it rattles on surfaces, but this charm bracelet is so beautiful and meaningful that I may just have to start the one that I have had for 10 years!

Do you have a charm bracelet? What is your favorite charm?  Have a fabulous day!
Yours,
sCe

The only charm bracelet I've ever owned is one of the Lilly ones from this past Spring with all the little flowers and bugs on it. It was a gift, and I only wear it once in awhile because I'm the same way about charm bracelets - I hate things dangling and making a lot of noise on my wrist! Your grandmother's is so beautiful though!

I really liked this post :) I like how each item has personal meaning. That type of jewelry is the best. Your grandfather sounds like the perfect gentleman, thinking each charm out must not have been an easy task!

Loved this post! I've always loved looking at other's charm bracelets and learning about their history.

I have my grandmothers charm bracelet which is full of unique items like this! I also started my own which has a birthstone, my class ring from hs, a charm with my last name initial and date of our wedding, another charm with the latitude and longitude of our honeymoon, a house for our first home, a mule for a local reference. Real charm bracelets are such a conversation piece!

So beautiful! You need to get charms for yours. I have a silver charm bracelet that I collected charms from middle school to high school. I also have a gold charm bracelet I got for my 16th birthday and I'm still adding to that one.

Aw, how gorgeous! I love getting charms from my travels, my favorite being a mini vial of pink sand from Bermuda!

Wow, what a gorgeous charm bracelet! I currently own one charm bracelet, a pink leather bracelet from Pandora with a few sentimental charms, like one I got for my 16th birthday, a heart for Valentine's day, etc!

My charm bracelet is one of my MOST treasured possessions. I have had it for 41 years (since I was 9) and I have had the best time adding to it recently. The charms vary from Girl Scout charms, Sorority charms, charm of my kids, charms of my hobbies, I could go on and on. It is like a snapshot of my whole life.

Oh what an amazing Charm Bracelet! There's nothing I love more than a charm bracelet. My Grandmother has one also, and I love looking at hers. Each charm tells it's own store.

Found your blog today and have been reading forever! I am not a prissy or preppy person, but I do appreciate your taste in timeless pieces. I am sort of craving to collect staples that are timeless and spend very little money on trends. Anyway, when I saw the top of this post, I am reminded that I have a charm bracelet in my jewelry box. I spent years collecting charms. And, like you, I never wear it because it jangles and clinks on surfaces which drives me nuts. I need to make it a point to wear it more often, maybe out to dinner sometime. :)
