Country Squire Haberdashery: Shoes

Breaking news: My favorite Florida Haberdashery carries shoes! And they are ohhhhhh so cute. The above loafers are Sperry! Can you believe it? What a fun pair of shoes to sport on the dock in Georgia! I was stylish and they had a great grip on the boat deck!

And these Palm Beach Sandals are SEERSUCKER! This is too good I couldn't make it up if I tried.

Can you tell I love white denim? Anyways, CSH has seersucker and Nantucket red sandals that are exclusively sold at CSH

Call Kyle at CSH (954-776-5940) to get a pair before the season ends! Have a fabulous day!

Let's talk about hair. I really enjoy when Summer Wind readers leave their input and I am desperately in need of some hair input. Currently, my hair is long... I'm pretty sure it's the longest it has ever been. Quite honestly, I'm all about the #longhairdontcare saying.  I've never had short hair expect for a small lapse of judgement in 5th grade. Luckily, hair grows back and mine grows lightning fast.
I have a little secret to share. I am afraid of getting my haircut. So badly that I avoid the salon like the plague. When my stylist whips out the scissors to cut, I cringe. She always does a fabulous job-- she knows my hair and knows what I like. And she should, considering I have been going to her for fifteen-ish years.
It's pictures like the above that make me never want to cut my hair! So, what do I do about my hair? Do I cut it or just keep letting it grow? If I choose not to cut it, I'd go in for a very minor trim, but if I cut it, how much do I chop off?
Sometimes, when my hair gets super long (not to mention it is insanely thick and I have a lot of hair), I feel like it is out of control and makes me look less polished. On the other hand, sometimes I want to just let it grow and grow to see how long it would get. Does anyone else feel like that?

My big (sister in my sorority) and one of my very best friends, told me this in regards to my hair, "Anyone that tries to tell you to cut your hair is out to get you." It made me laugh, but my hair is something I love about myself... there are plenty of other things I don't quite love about me, but my hair, I love. I've also found it's what I am most complemented on. Even here on Summer Wind, I am constantly asked how I do my hair. So do I cut something that I love?

Isn't it funny how I had a very similar post almost exactly one year ago? Things really do go in cycles!
What to do?  Weigh in with a comment! Also, the It's a 10 Miracle product is working wonders. I can't go without it now...highly recommend it! Have a fabulous day!

Working Girl Staple: The Leather Portfolio

For my birthday, everyone at the office gave me a gorgeous leather portfolio with my initials stamped into it. It was such a thoughtful gift and I use it daily. It makes me feel oh so "business woman" as I jot down notes and make lists. It's great for going to meetings because a pen, notepad, business cards and other papers are all in one place and become easily accessible. I think this is a must have accessory for any working woman. It's simple and clean making it sophisticated and chic-- qualities that I find are important to have as a working woman.
This Graphic Image option is fabulous and as most GI products, it can be personalized. It also comes in a crocodile leather for a different look. Do you have a portfolio? Does it give you a "girl power" feeling? Have a fabulous day!

Talbots: Wear-to-Work

A frequent question that I am asked through e-mail and Tumblr is what I wear to work. My office is casual on days that we don't have meetings. I am so thankful that I am able to wear casual dresses and denim on a daily basis. However, on the days when I have to be more "business-y", I tend to reach for pieces from Talbots

I have been a Talbots shopper for as long as I can remember. Their nod to timeless, classic pieces is the prime reason I frequent the store. Talbots sent me a gorgeous black silk tank and black and white necklace that are perfect for the office and then to wear to drinks/dinner afterwards. I wore the above outfit to work and then popped over to Sienna, a favorite restaurant of mine, for drinks and dinner post-work.

This black silk tank is something I will stock up on in most colors considering it is a dressed-up basic. Wear it alone in the summer or throw a cashmere cardigan or blazer over top for fall/winter. I even like the idea of tucking it into a skirt for a weekend night out.

Are you a Talbots shopper? What do you like to wear to work to look professional? A big thank you to Talbots for sending me the gorgeous tank and necklace. Have a fabulous day!

Giveaway: Palm Beach Sandals

I am so excited to introduce Summer Wind readers to Palm Beach Sandals
You'll notice that Palm Beach Sandals are very similar to the look of Jack Rogers, however there are some huge differences that are worth noting. I have always worm Jack Rogers every summer, but since being introduced to Palm Beach Sandals and comparing them to JR's, there isn't even a question that I'm a PB Sandal girl, now!
Watch the clip above to see how Palm Beach Sandals are hand crafted with 100% leather.  It is important to note that the usage of all-leather in the sandals makes a difference in comfort, not to mention, quality. I am all about leather soles on shoes, and it drives me nuts that Jack Rogers sell for almost the same price as Palm Beach Sandals when JR's have a synthetic outsole!!
If you've been reading Summer Wind for a while now, then you know that I prefer products made in the USA. Palm Beach Sandals are made in the USA, while JR's are now being manufactured in countries such as Mexico and Guatemala.

Palm Beach sandals generously sent me a gorgeous pair of classic navy + gold sandals. They paired perfectly with my Just Madras dress!

Can you guess which pair are Jacks and which are PB Sandals? I just love that the heel is all stacked leather. It makes the pair on the right so much more comfortable!

Have you ever shopped PB Sandals? If you haven't, you are in for a treat! Palm Beach sandals is giving a pair of sandals to a lucky Summer Wind reader! Enter through the Rafflecopter widget below!

Summer Wind Favorite: Okra

Dried Okra

Pickled Okra

I love all vegetables (well, ok, I actually dislike mushrooms), but okra takes the cake. To me, it is the most delicious vegetable ever. I love finding new ways to consume this green legume. For example, I devour Fresh Market's dried okra and their pickled okra almost daily. Yum!
Other fun ways to get your daily dose of okra:
James Madison, where I went to school, was rated #3 best food in the country. Well you better believe they had the best fried okra-- it was a good thing D-Hall was all you can eat ;) ! Do you love okra? What is your favorite way to prepare it?  Don't forget to enter the Ame and Lulu Boat Tote giveaway! Have a fabulous day!
