Happy October!!! Can you believe it is October? Sometimes I still think it's March, ha!! HI can't believe we are almost to the weekend already. Nothing of note this week, but it's been flying by. I'm proud to say that we actually cooked all of our meals at home this week, which had been somewhat of a rarity in the past few weeks, so that was a win.
I spent most of this week behind the computer as I am prepping more for the holiday season. I received so much good feedback from you all in terms of what type of content you would like as well as when. Many of you...actually, most of you want holiday content now. While I'm not going to get crazy into the holidays just yet, I will definitely start to call out and highlight items that I think are great as gift ideas- especially if they are on sale! I will also try to refresh the widgets on the sidebar to the right more often so you can browse new items frequently!
I also spent this week in sweaters and fleeces and all things cozy! It is CHILLY here!! I'm all for it. I love sweaters. I also find walking Henry much more enjoyable when it's chilly rather than summertime when it's just sweltering... we have had the most perfect walking weather and I am so thankful for it.
We don't have too much going on this weekend but plan to go to our friend's house for dinner one night which will be nice. Our other friends just got a dog, which is so exciting, so hopefully, we will be able to meet him soon, too!!
Wearing: Vince is currently 25% off, here!!!! My beloved boiled cashmere sweater is included. Even on sale it's quite pricey, but it is easily my most worn sweater ever. It is so incredibly soft and luxurious. It looks just as good with leggings as it does dressed up for a night out.
Drinking: My girlfriend Katie has an apple cider margarita recipe that I have been wanting to try!!
Reading: This is fun! Behind the scenes of The Parent Trap!
Sale: 'The Green Blanket' is currently on sale for 20% off with code J20FRIENDS. The sale ends 10/7. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you likely know what I'm talking about. But for those of you who don't, this is the same blanket that my parents have that we grew up with for 15+ years. My parents still have it and my sister and I think it is the best blanket ever. Years ago, I ordered what I thought was the 'green blanket' but it ended up not being great. However, I tried to look for it again and FINALLY found it. This is it and it's so soft and comfortable. It's a throw size blanket perfect for 1-2 people. I got the feather tan shade as I'm hoping to also have this blanket for 15+ years so I figured this was a color that would go with any type of decor! This blanket is not fleece or cashmere or anything knit- it is a down blanket with a cotton exterior (more similar to a comforter). It's very fluffy and lightweight but also very warm. It's not cheap and while I wouldn't say it's luxurious like alpaca, I'd call it the perfect everyday blanket that is plain and simple and high quality that will last you for many years. If you are looking for a larger size, you can find that, here. It's the exact same but they have bed-sizes! This down robe is also included in the sale and I'm honestly tempted. I have too many robes so that's really what is holding me back but oh my goodness to be wrapped up in that fluffy goodness would be amazing.
Watching II: I am SO excited that the final season of Schitt's Creek is going to be on Netflix on October 7th!!! If you haven't watched this series yet, it is SO good. It's hilarious and the acting and writing is just incredible. I cannot say enough good things about this series and I can't wait to binge the last season!
Loving: In honor of October’s breast cancer awareness month, Talbots commissioned three internationally renowned female artists to interpret the courage, strength, and determination of women. The result is their 3rd annual limited-edition collection of one-of-a-kind silk scarves. In the spirit of women helping women, Talbots will donate 10% of the net proceeds from each scarf sold from September 21, 2020 to October 31, 2020 in support of Susan G. Komen and the Komen Breast Care Helpline in the fight to end breast cancer. The helpline is staffed by a team of caring and compassionate specialists and oncology social workers who provide education, psychosocial support, and information about needed resources in local communities to more than 15,000 people a year who contact the helpline.
Loving II: I get asked about this decal ALL of the time. Unfortunately, the Etsy shop I purchased it from is shut down. So, I found something super similar!! The tumbler is by RTIC and I love it so much and drink out of it every day. It's inexpensive and high quality. I would suggest doing a tumbler, monogram decal, and some straws as a cute little gift for the holidays that is well under $50. You could also use the decal and put it on something like this adorable cosmetic case.
Wanting: How pretty are these sage green charger plates? Only $35 for 6! I just ordered these blue and white ornaments. They are by far the most affordable ones I have seen, so I will report back on quality. I wanted to order them early because they were sold out last year by early November! I'm also adding a bunch of new items that I love to my Amazon storefront, so be sure to check that out from time to time.
Pittsburgh: Ok, I have never had The Crafty Jackalope until a week or two ago but oh my goodness, their wings are SO good. I love wings but I'm very particular with what kind I like. I don't like them to be breaded, I just like them to be fried and I don't like them to be too saucy/wet. These were like the perfect thing. We got the 'hot ranch' flavor which basically just tasted like a more seasoned/flavorful 'mild' wing. It was so good. I have already tried to convince my fiancé to get them basically every night since then. My number one favorite wings in Pittsburgh were from Someone Else's Bar, which was the cutest, neighborhood spot but unfortunately, they just closed after being in business for 11 years. So sad.
Smelling: This fir and firewood candle is finally back in stock!! It's one of my favorite candles to burn during the holiday season. I love anything 'fir' scented and this one is good!
Quoting: 'It doesn't get easier, you just get stronger.'// See more of my favorites, here.
