What I'm Packing for the Lake

I am such a bad packer and I get so overwhelmed when it comes to packing for more than just a few days. When we go to the lake, it's all very casual and we can do laundry so I tend to not overpack all that much for this kind of thing. But, since I'll be going for longer than usual this year and my husband and I are taking a quick trip to Old Edwards Inn in the midst of the time at the lake for our one-year anniversary, I've started to think about what I am going to be packing. The really nice thing is that my husband is coming after me so if I forget something, he can always bring it!

I thought I would share a little collage with you all to share some of the things I will be bringing along. It's a lot of swimsuits and casual things but I think this highlights some of the pieces that I wear constantly. Summer is not my favorite time of year for clothes- I've mentioned this a bunch before but I *love* to layer and sweaters bring me the most joy. I think mid-September through December is where I really shine, ha! I find that I wear a lot of things repetitively in the summer months just because I am not the biggest fan of the heat!

Whether or not you are a content creator, if you are packing for a longer trip, I find that creating these collages is so helpful. I'm definitely a visual person and this helps me to see all that I have and also tie in a color palette to work with. It makes it really easy to nix things if you can see it all displayed together. It also helps me to know what's inside my suitcase once it is packed.

I'll probably do something exactly like this for when we go to Rome and on our cruise and I will share then.

Honestly, looking over this, it looks like a lot but it's really not when you factor in that I'll be gone for 14 days. I can see holes in what I need to bring- like this is dress-heavy but I need more lounge-y bottoms and definitely a few sweatshirts. I'll also need a pair of sneakers... see I'm already editing this!!

Anyway, this is definitely labor-intensive. Collages take a lot of time because you have to round up all of the images, remove the backgrounds, sort them like a puzzle, etc. But for longer trips, I really think it is worth it!

Can’t wait to hear about your cruise. I discovered you fell in love with you when you wrote about your cruise I believe it was on Sea Dream. We are going or second time because of you! ❤️
