Whole Foods Favorites

I really don't have loyalty to one particular grocery store; I go to all of them: Whole Foods, Target, Fresh Market, Giant Eagle (a regional chain), Aldi, Walmart, Trader Joe's, Costco, etc. It's nice to have options, but it also drives me a bit crazy because I like certain things from certain stores, so I swear I am in a grocery store every other day of the week.

I've shared my Trader Joe's favorites with you all before, but I've never shared my Whole Foods favorites, so today is the day! I love to see what people buy at the grocery store and hear about people's favorites so I can try new things.

Pesto// I used to buy the Kirkland brand Pesto from Costco. It tastes great. I always assumed it was made with olive oil, but once I read the ingredients, I saw it was made with soybean oil, and then I started to look at more Pesto brands, and most are made with soybean oil. Gotham Greens is one of the few pestos that is made with olive oil! It tastes delicious and is a little pricier than other pestos, but I feel good about the ingredients.

Peanut Butter Pretzels// I don't love peanut butter, but these little pretzel nuggets hit the spot sometimes. There are so many brands out there that make this type of thing, but I think the 365 brand is superior when it comes to these.

Chicken Salad// I LOVE this chicken salad. I buy it almost every time I go. I always try to recreate it on my own at home but it's just never as good as it is from WF. It has to be the *classic* chicken salad.

Sourdough Bread// This is honestly probably the GOAT of the list. My favorite bread is sourdough, and I've had a lot of bread over the years. We have so many great bakeries here in Pittsburgh, but I specifically go to Whole Foods for their sourdough. The exterior is crisp and chewy, and the inside is fluffy and flavorful. It's one of my favorite things ever.

Hummus// This hummus might be a regional thing because it's made right here in Pittsburgh, but it's this honey habanero flavor that is out of this world. It's spicy and sweet all at once. I love to dip carrots into this, and it tastes great spread on a sandwich.

Pineapple Fruit Jerky// My sister turned me onto these, and I love to keep them in my handbag for on-the-go snacks. It's just pineapple and tastes fresh, but it's dried and like a fruit roll-up. I love it and always have these stocked in our home.

Peanut Butter// This is what I get for Henry. It is so hard to find peanut butter, and the only ingredients are peanuts. Many options out there have oil, added sugars, salt, etc. This is just peanuts, so I feel good about Henry having it. I put PB in his kong and then freeze it as a fun treat for him. We also get the Crazy Richard's brand, but they don't always have that in stock. I seldom eat peanut butter, especially not by itself, but I tasted this, and it's not bad.

Castelvetrano Olives// I buy a huge jar of these (pitted) from Costco, but these are fresher with pits still in them. I love these for snacking. They are seriously the best olives ever.

Kettle Honey Dijon Chips// I don't understand why, but Whole Foods is the only place in Pittsburgh you can seemingly buy this flavor of the Kettle Brand chips. These are the best chips on this planet. They are salty and tangy, and sweet all at once. They have so much flavor, and the crunch is delightful.

Sizzle Olive Oil// This is the olive oil we cook with. It has a great flavor, and I really believe in this brand.

Drizzle Olive Oil// This is the drizzle version by the same brand, and the drizzle is made for dipping or use as a dressing. I love this stuff so much. It is so flavorful. We go through it so quickly. I make almost all of our dressings and marinades from scratch at home because I can control the ingredients, and while I don't love cooking, I enjoy making dressings and marinades!

Cookie Dough// Ok, between the sourdough and this cookie dough, they are the only two reasons you need to go to Whole Foods. I used to buy the pre-baked cookie at the checkout (brown butter chocolate chip cookie), but then one of you told me that you could buy the dough and bake them at home, and OH MY GOSH. It is such a game-changer. They are the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. I buy several packs at a time so we always have dough in the freezer. You can just pop one cookie out and bake it right from frozen for like 15ish mins. The cookies are big, so my husband and I usually split one.

Tortilla Chips// I think these are about as close to a Mexican restaurant as you will get. I like to pair these with the Trader Joe's salsa (you know, the one with the yellow lid?), and it's a match made in Heaven!

I already know I've left some things off the list (like this dressing), so I'll have to do a part II in a month or two! Let me know if you have any favorites or things I need to try!

Field and Farmer dressing!! I am really particular with my dressings and typically like to make my own, but for something like a Caesar or Honey Mustard its easier to buy, if you find a great brand. This is it! They are in the refrigerated section by the salad mixes at Whole Foods. The Honey Mustard is the best I have had outside a restaurant. Its a plant based brand too and the ingredient list is clean and minimal.
