Got my hair done this week!

I hope everyone is staying warm! This weather has been crazy! I know so many of you in the South got snow! We have been dripping faucets and I even panic-ordered a space heater. We live in a well-insulated, new-construction home, so we usually don't have issues (knock on wood). But, in hindsight, I am glad I did because I was so worried our pipes would freeze! Our refrigerator water line ended up freezing, which isn't a big deal, but otherwise, things were OK. It ended up being -9 degrees as the low. As a born and raised Pittsburgher, I cannot remember it ever being this cold. I am so glad we are on an upward trajectory with the temperature. I'm seeing temps forecasted for next week in the upper 30s, and honestly, that seems downright WARM, and I'm so excited, ha!
This week has been uneventful! I got my hair highlighted and cut, which was much needed. I look forward to trying out a local Pittsburgh restaurant that has been around forever, but I have never been to! I'm also excited to watch the next episode of Severance tomorrow!
Wearing: Last Friday, I was on a panel at the University of Pittsburgh Katz School of Business. It was a two-day workshop open to students and local Pittsburghers in the marketing industry and it focused on working with influencers. I was on the panel last year and stayed to learn from the other panels! It was so insightful and engaging. I love to learn, especially in this setting, where you can hear different perspectives. Anyway, this is what I wore. This is one of my favorite dresses of all time. It is on sale in red and also comes in a gorgeous cream shade. It's just so ladylike, elegant, and flattering. The material also has a bit of stretch, making it very comfortable.
Also, did you catch the details on my favorite winter lounge pieces?

Watching: I was so excited to see episode 1 of season 2 of Severance on Friday! My husband and I ordered takeout, and we re-watched the last two episodes of season 1 to refresh our memories. Then, we watched the season 2 premiere. It's such a good show. The first episode was good but not amazing. I feel like they didn't give us enough info yet, but hopefully, that was setting up for more in-depth future episodes!
Wanting: The most fabulous pot holder I've ever seen. Fabulous and pot holder in one sentence... weird, but just trust. These jeans are on sale under $100! This bag is darling for spring and summer. These blue and white dinner plates are catching my eye. I love the texture of this pretty blue sweater. This is another pretty textured sweater. I love this blue cardigan, and it was a great price. I saw this jacket in person, and it's gorgeous.
Eating: My husband made this French onion pot roast the other night; it was the best I've ever had! So savory and hearty and flavorful!
Drinking: We drank this Austin Hope Cabernet this weekend, and it was phenomenal. It's one of the best cabs I've had in recent memory. It was bold but silky. The tannins were velvety smooth, with a fruit-forward flavor of berries and cherry. I had to look up the story of Austin Hope, and it turns out he worked up Caymus winemakers at one point.
Sale: The Tuckernuck Sample Sale is still going on through tomorrow! My picks are here. Veronica Beard is having a big sale, and I love this sweater and these cords. Ann Mashburn's sale is also happening, and this skirt is stunning.

Loving: I've always been curious about this 'beauty fix' box from Dermstore. It's $25, and each month, they curate a box filled with skincare and beauty, totaling at least $100. It's a fun way to try things. Dermstore sent me this month's box, and I was shocked to see how much came in it! I already used the face mask and enjoyed it! Anyway, my code SUMMERWIND works on this, which makes it $21. It would make a cute little gift for Valentine's Day, too.

Pittsburgh: I had breakfast with some girlfriends this past weekend at Mediterra. I hadn't been in a minute and was reminded how it is SO good. The only thing that needs improvement is their coffee and espresso, which are not good. It's overly sour/acidic and has no depth of flavor. I can't put my finger on it, but it's not even drinkable, in my opinion. Anyway, they more than make up for it with everything else. The Shakshuka was perfect for a freezing morning, and I brought a few pastries home for my husband to enjoy!
Hair Repair Spray (spray on damp hair)
Amazon Rec: Two hair products I recently just finished and had to re-order. Isn't it the worst when you finish multiple products at the same time and have to repurchase all at once?! Especially since the spray is pricey but it's sooooo worth it. I've used both of these products for years to keep my hair looking healthy and shiny.

Traveling: I have a travel post scheduled for next week, but I'd like to know if you have recommendations for Newport, Rhode Island? My girlfriend has been and has told me how much I would love it and so my husband said we should go for my birthday! I thought that sounded like a great idea, so that's what we are considering. I always see the Clark Cooke House on Instagram, so I already have that on my list, but otherwise, I know nothing about the area. Is it doable on a weekend, or should we go for longer?

So excited you are going to Newport - one of my favorite places! Drinks on the lawn at Castle Hill Inn is dreamy (no reservation needed). Love a morning coffee walk along Cliff Walk (there's parking near Easton Beach). Cru Cafe is great for breakfast - Usually a line in the summer, but everything on the menu is delish and you can do BYO champagne for the mimosa bar. I usually do a Newport Classic Cruises sail in the summer - Get to see all the gorgeous homes and learn more about the history. Newport Vineyards is a good activity during the day. Drinks at the Gardiner House is on my list for next time. Have so much fun!!
You look fabulous in that red dress!! I bet the panel was amazing -- wish I could've been a fly on the wall to hear you speak!
Newport is amazing! Recommend touring the Newport Mansions for sure. I always love stopping at Kiel James Patrick and the Newport Mansions Museum Shop.
Thank you so much, Kelly! You are too sweet! I really enjoyed it!!
Thank you Lauren and Anonymous for the Newport recs, I am so glad to hear you both love it!! Is 3 nights enough? We will be flying- should we rent a car or is it walkable if we stay in the 'main' area and then we could uber to Castle Hill Inn if we want to? We are going to go in April for my birthday so hoping that's early enough that it won't be crowded like it is in the summer! I think we are going to stay at Gardiner house but haven't booked anything yet!
