One Dress, Five Ways

When you’re thoughtful about what you add to your wardrobe, you’ll find endless ways to wear the same pieces… without getting bored. It’s the key to fewer ‘I have nothing to wear’ days! When I order something, I consider how it will fit with what I already own and if I can style it multiple ways. This white dress is a pretty easy example since it’s basically a blank canvas!

I styled it five ways here, but in reality, I could probably come up with a dozen more combinations depending on the season, occasion, or weather. Staple pieces like this become the backbone of a wardrobe. My biggest tip for intentionality with building your wardrobe is to order online. Once it arrives, try it on but you're not *just* trying it on to see if you like the fit. Instead, give yourself enough time to style it several different ways with things you already have in your closet. Take photos, even. Sure, there are those one-off unique, special pieces, or cocktail dresses for parties and events, but for everyday clothing, most of what you have in your closet should be versatile. If I can't style something in more than 3 ways, I'm likely not keeping it.

The white dress feels very summery. It is, but you can easily wear it in transitional months like May and September. Here I have it styled for September. This is comfortable, cozy, but still feels fresh. I can easily remove the cardigan for the heat of a September afternoon and tie it over my shoulders.

This is a very 'everyday' outfit. Comfortable, and just 'throwing things on' for daily errands. I removed the belt for a slightly different look. It reads more casual, effortless. I think without a belt, it could also double as a swimsuit coverup.

It's a casual knit dress but can be dressed up a touch with espadrilles and a little bag. This is something I'd wear out to a casual date night or a weekend lunch with girlfriends.

This is another example of transitioning a more summery dress into cooler months. This is exactly the type of thing I'd wear to a sporting event or for travel. Comfortable but polished.

This is a very summery example. You all know I love the blue and white combo so this is really what I had in mind when ordering this dress!
