Wow, this is so late! Apologies, friends! We are over halfway to September, and I'm just getting to my July favorites, but better late than never! Going to the lake threw me off my schedule, that's for sure!
I round up my favorite things each month for a monthly favorites list. At the end of the year, I compile the best items from each monthly list to create a yearly favorites list. Here is my 2024 favorites list. It's my way of keeping track of the very best things. The lists work because when I look back on the past few years, most things on each list are still my favorites. My only rule is that I don't repeat items from month to month or year to year, so there is no overlap.
Planner// This is an academic calendar, so it just began in August, but I've had this since May and was filling it in ahead of time as needed. The cover is a smooth, leather-like material, and it looks beautiful on my desk. It's broken down by month with a two-page spread of a month-at-a-glance calendar, and then each following two-page spread is Monday-Sunday. I really only use it for the monthly portion, but it's lovely and easy to toss into a tote. Though it is a bit heavy. My code is SYDNEY20 for 20% off Simplified products. I have ordered quite a few of their products over the years and have always been happy with them, including this planner!
Dry Shampoo// This is the BEST dry shampoo I've ever used. I'm not a big dry shampoo gal, but sometimes it's just necessary. I love this so much that I find myself using it even when I don't need to, as it refreshes my hair perfectly. The brush application is unique and so much easier and less messy than sprays or just shaking powder onto your head. It also has a light, pleasant scent.
Jeans// I love the look of rigid denim. In fact, I prefer the look of rigid denim over denim with stretch. But oftentimes, rigid can be so uncomfortable! Have you all seen people calling specific pairs of jeans 'standing only' jeans because they're so rigid that they can't sit in them! I just cannot wear such uncomfortable things in my day-to-day life, so I typically stick to jeans with stretch. Frame does stretch SO well. However, these jeans are rigid, and from a brand I didn't even know made jeans. From the second I put them on, I was shocked by how comfortable they were. The size 4 fits like it was custom-made for me. I still can't get over it! The wash is a casual medium wash and has a very laidback look. I love them!
Tote Liner// I have so much fun dressing up my little Bean tote, and when my friend, Sunny, sent me this liner, I was ecstatic. It is SO cute and adds so much character to my bag. You can use the insert in any bag, but it looks like it was made for my mini boat tote! Since the bean tote is entirely open, the liner also allows me to close the bag if needed!
Needlepoint Pillow// I love the look of needlepoint, but I don't needlepoint. My sister does, and she enjoys it. Maybe one day I'll pick it up, but, if I'm being honest, it's not something I'm particularly interested in. That's why I am glad I can buy needlepoint items from brands like Furbish, Smathers, and Branson. I get the look without the effort, ha! The needlepoint pillows are so cheeky, and I love all of the colors and designs. The quality is nice, too. These make adorable gifts. My code SYDNEY20 gives you 20% off.
Checkered Cutting Board// Would you believe that this is my first Mackenzie Childs purchase? I've given some things as gifts before, but don't have anything myself. I admire MC pieces, but I've never seen anything that really pulled me in. That is, until they had their most recent sale, and I saw this little 'cheese board' and thought it would make a perfect cutting board. It arrived, and I was blown away at the quality. It is the perfect size for daily use, and the checkered pattern is gorgeous. Because it's considered a cheeseboard, it comes with a heavy, beautiful cheese knife which is very sharp! I am thrilled I got it on sale, but in hindsight, I would have been more than OK with paying full price.
Perfume// I'm not great at describing scent, and it's very personal, so I'll defer to the website description for this one: Top notes: Rhubarb, Lychee, Bergamot Essence; Heart notes: Turkish Rose, Peony, Vanilla; Base notes: Cashmeran, Musk, Vetiver. This is a new-to-me scent, and the second I smelled it, I was in heaven. I love bergamot and vetiver, and they really shine through in this scent, but it has a fresher, more feminine scent than other scents I've smelled that contain the same two notes. It's one of those scents that linger all day and people will stop you to ask what you are wearing. My mom likes this perfume brand and has the Valaya scent, which is also wonderful.
Handbag// This canvas and leather bag is on major sale right now. The shape gives me major early 2000s vibes, and it's the perfect size for the essentials. It fits perfectly under my arm and tucks into the shoulder. It reminds me a lot of the Prada designs that are popular right now.
Spritz Sunscreen// This is the best sunscreen for touch-ups because it spritzes right onto the face like a setting spray. In true Vacation fashion, it smells divine. It's in a smaller bottle, so it's easy to tuck away into a handbag.
Lip Gloss// I am new to LM makeup and I have fallen in love with this lip gloss, particularly in the shade Rosé Syrup. It's a lovely, everyday pink color with high shine. It's subtly bright, and I think it works really well with my tan skin right now. It's not at all sticky and feels smooth and hydrating on my lips.
