Falling for Fashion

I like to try out all different things when it comes to fashion. Sometimes I buy on trend and other times I go for more timeless pieces. I always describe my style as timeless with a twist and a dash of prep. Here is what I am loving/inspired by for fall 2012:

Desert wedge bootie. You can find this look at any price point. The reason that I love these shoes is because they are not only comfortable, but also versatile. Plus, you can hide a warm sock without anyone knowing! These are really versatile because you can wear them with anything and everything-- I love pairing them with cuffed denim and skirts!

Cartier is known for making the classic tank watch (it was a favorite of Jackie O), however, a lot of companies make a similar style. Being the watch connoisseur that I am, of course I would rather have the Cartier, but my post grad budget does not support the several thousand dollar price tag... one day! This is a classic, timeless watch, so it is worth to invest in a good brand. The above Bulova has a lot of the characteristics of the tank watch (think small rectangular face with bracelet band) but only runs at about $200.

I've certainly blogged about the Barbour Beaufort before. This is a wardrobe staple and is truly an investment piece that should last you a good 10 years. It looks great with anything casual and pairs fabulously with tartans.

Speaking of plaid, these are a few of my favorite tartans for this fall season that are totally fun in small doses (but I even like plaid in large doses!).

I am loving structured bags. While I love the look of some "slouchy" bags, structured bags make it so easy to store things and find them without having a mess of pouches floating around. I just ordered the above Kate Spade bag in a tan shade and cannot wait until it arrives. Pink Tulips, which I've previously blogged about has some great structured bag options as well.

Fall Finds

With fall officially upon us, I think it is now safe to say that it is time to decorate! I love fall scents such as pumpkin and love the warmth of fall colors. I also love decorating for Halloween, regardless of how tacky it is!
Here are some options for this season to turn your house to fall fab!

While a bit tacky, I think this Bath and Body Works candle would be a fun touch to a bathroom!

This Williams Sonoma wreath would look gorgeous on your front door. However, I love seeing wreaths on gates and fences as well.

 These napkins would be so great for a fall dinner party or a fun Halloween party!

This welcome mat is from Kirkland's and for $10.99, it definitely won't break the bank!

Don't forget to surprise your bff with a fun surprise Halloween card that will be sure to brighten his/her day!

Now your home is festive, but what about your wardrobe? I HATE the color orange. I don't own many orange things at all-- however, October is the month I will actually wear something orange. Here is some inspiration to add a little orange into your wardrobe!

By adding small pops of orange, it doesn't seem too obnoxious or overbearing. I love the colored blazer trend and this orange one pairs so well with nautical stripes! You'd be surprised but orange flats can make a pretty neutral shoe while still adding a pop of color to your outfit.

Sad to say goodbye to summer but welcoming fall with open arms. Time to bring out the boots, quilted jackets, and pretty scarves! Have a fabulous fall weekend!

Fall Favorites

There really isn't much that I don't love about the fall season. Here is my list of Fall Favorites (I did this post last year as well!)

• Riding boots and duck boots

• Hot beverages whether it be green tea, coffee, latte, apple cider, hot chocolate, etc. I love them all, especially pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks!

• Down vests. I love pairing a down vest with a turtleneck sweater. So cozy but it looks great too!

• The colorful trees. Lucky for me, my campus has a beautiful arboretum that is so beautiful in the fall; It's great to take a brisk jog throughout just to enjoy the trees.

• Sunglasses. I love wearing sunglasses at this time even more than I do in summer or winter. I don't really have a reason, but I just love them a little more.

• College Football and Steeler Sundays. Go Steelers!! Roll Tide!!

• October is BCA for our sorority which is for breast cancer awareness. We do a ton of philanthropy and fun things to really support this great cause. My favorite is the 5k.

• Pumpkin flavored anything! I love anything with a pumpkin scent, or pumpkin muffins, or pumpkin bread, or pumpkin spice lattes. They are all so yummy to me!

• Homecoming, for my college and for my high school. Since my sister is still in high school, I love when she sends me pictures of her all dressed up ready to go to the homecoming dance. Or going home for a Friday night football game so I can watch my fellow cheerleaders! And of course, the best, Homecoming at my school!

• Season premieres of shows! I love love love Grey's anatomy and Gossip girl!

• Getting cozy under tons of warm blankets, my favorite being a down throw from the Company Store

• Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas... These are the best holidays in my mind!

• Late nights in the library. Ok, so maybe I don't love spending late nights in the library, but I love the sense of accomplishment I feel after working hard and getting all of my homework and studying done!

• My Patagonia Retro X Fleece, hands down the best fleece jacket! I own mine in a deep reddish color and it matches practically everything! 

• Driving gloves, I have cashmere lined ones from RL that I absolutely love! 
• Tartans, tweeds, corduroy, fleece, wool, and cashmere. 
And last but not least, brisk mornings and evenings but with afternoons where the sun shines so warm and bright! What are your fall favorites? Have a fabulous day!

Preppy Pumpkins!

=an you believe that Halloween is right around the corner! In just one short week, you will be celebrating in black and orange! I am certainly excited of course because I just love holidays, and decorating for them! My plan for Halloween weekend is to eat plenty of pumpkin bars, drink pumpkin spice lattes and hot apple cider, and carve pumpkins! How do you like to carve your pumpkin? I was thinking this year that I would go with putting my monogram on my pumpkin! I would have a preppy monogrammed pumpkin! I've also seen other pumpkins that were painted pink and green, and if you look at the Lilly Pulitzer facebook page, you can see Lilly decorated pumpkins! How creative!
I found the above picture on Google images, and think it is too cute! This would be so simple to do. Just trace the letters and then carve away! What are you plans for Halloween weekend? Have a great day!

Happy September!

Today is September 1st as I'm sure you all are aware. So happy September! I dislike the cold so much when walking to class or when having to wait for your car to heat up but in my opinion the cool crisp fall weather is just perfect. So enjoy your first day of September! Here are some things I love about fall:
