Sleep Cycle

Sleep is a good thing
To those of you that know me, it is absolutely no secret that I love my sleep. I mean we are talking a deep, passionate, love for sleep.

In college, I was never one to pull all-nighters... never. I value my sleep far too much and would always format my schedule to make sure that an all-nighter would never be in the cards.

I can't believe I am sharing this photo (I am so not sleeping beauty, people), but it just seems too fitting with this post. On spring break my junior year, we were in Key West (remember this post?). The boys were going deep sea fishing at the crack of dawn and thought it would be funny to take a picture of the girls passed out... guess who was the most asleep?! Me!

Upon graduation almost a year ago, I wasnt' necessarily worried about the working world... In fact, I was excited to work. Many of my peers, had anxiety about the real world and work, but my anxiety? The thought running through my head pre-graduation? What am I going to do about my sleep?!

Want to know something funny? If someone told me that I could have a gorgeous Chanel bag or an extra hour of sleep each day for a month, I would easily pick the sleep option... and we all know how much I love handbags.

Successful people work hard. I mean really really hard. But sacrificing sleep doesn't have to be part of your journey. I treat sleep like I would treat living on a budget. Your "bank" are the hours that you can afford to sleep. For example, if you have to be at work at 8am,  and you go to bed at midnight, then your "bank" can only afford you 6 hours of sleep plus an hour getting ready and an hour commute. So, why am I talking so much about my crazy addiction to sleep and all of this "sleep budgeting" nonsense?

Enter the Sleep Cycle app which is a bio-alarm clock. It calculates stats about your sleep each night. It's more fun than super scientific but It's interesting to watch the charts build up based on your sleeping habits. Even cooler? It comes with soothing alarm sounds that quietly and calmly wakes you. The only catch is that you have to remember to start the app when you are about to go to bed.. I forget a night here and there and I guess it throws off the calculations a bit.

See, I told you I love my sleep.

The only thing I don't like about this app is that I get almost a feeling of nervousness before I hit the pillow because the charts seem like a game to me. I obviously want my sleep quality percentage as high as possible and sometimes that puts a little bit of pressure on my sleep. Ridiculous, I know!

Do you use the sleep cycle app? What do you think? Are you as in love with sleep as I am?
Have a fabulous day!

Summer Style

I love following brands on Facebook. It is so easy to scroll through the newsfeed and read up on the latest while also being able to see the pictures of a brand's products. Well, while scrolling, I spotted a must have tote bag:

Made by a personal favorite brand of mine... can any one guess...

If you guessed Skirtin' Around, you are correct! How fun is this nautically chic, red, white and blue tote! Definitely 4th of July approved.

And then I had to do some browsing on the site... umm yeah, I'll take one of these dresses in each pattern please and thank you!
And while I'm on the subject of summer bags.... This J. McLaughlin pretty has been calling my name.

And those repp stripe accessories... I'll take one of each.

Have a fabulous day!

Catching Up: Gatsby and Mad Men

There are two things quickly approaching that I am certainly excited about. They are Mad Men season 6 and The Great Gatsby film.

Let's start with Mad Men, shall we. I am obsessed (see most recent past post, here). The eras that Mad Men covers are some of my favorite. It mixes important historical events and scandal for a must watch. And the clothing... don't even get me started!

If you subscribe to Netflix, all of the seasons are available. I am currently re-watching season 5 in preparation for season 6 on Sunday April 7th (2 hours of Mad Men fabulousness!!)... the above scene has become quite common before bedtime.

Oh and Kiernan Shipka? Don't even get me started.. She is only 13 and an incredible actress. Plus, she has great style-- very mature and sophisticated for her age... she is a role model that young girls should be looking up to and she is a budding style icon, no doubt!

Next up is Gatsby... seriously, people, who isn't excited for this?! Sidenote: has anyone seen the above image... I think it's great... ohhh Leo! I was super bummed when it was announced that it wouldn't be coming out for Christmas 2012 but May 10th is quickly approaching!

Well in preparation, I am re-reading Gatsby... I haven't read it since high school and I am quickly remembering all of my favorite parts... Like this quote that I Instagrammed...

"And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

Are you getting as excited as I am?!
Have a fabulous day!

sCe
