3 Ways To Style A Long Cardigan

3 Ways To Style A Long Cardigan

I am continuing with my goal this year to style one item multiple ways and share it with you all (see original post here). Number one, so you can get inspired seeing how the piece I am highlighting can be worn, but also so you can make sure you are purchasing a piece for your wardrobe that will truly get a lot of wear!

Today I am chatting about long cardigans. I LOVE longer cardigans (often referred to as dusters). Not only are they so pretty but they are quite a bit warmer than a regular length cardigan! It is the perfect layering piece for the winter months. I find I wear my longer cardigans at home with lounge clothes- kind of like a robe, and then out for an afternoon lunch or even for a date night. They are casual but also very versatile.

The cardigan I am wearing is a beautiful honeycomb knit in a deep navy blue. I love the ribbed collar- it's almost a mock neck as it slightly stands up a bit! The gold-domed buttons are gorgeous and I think they dress this cardigan up a bit! It runs true to size. I am wearing a size small and there is room for layering! It's made of merino wool but it feels very lightweight- it could easily work in the later spring and early fall (possibly even the summer on a cool evening). What I love about this knit, though, is that even though it's decently lightweight, it still keeps its structure so it looks very polished.

Now let's get to the three ways I have styled this cardigan. All are pretty casual but I styled the outfits with the seasons in mind so you can get an idea on how to make it work as the temperatures fluctuate!

Cardigan// Tee (see tee review here)
Lip Color (shade is Malibu)// Mug

This is very clearly the cardigan styled for winter. I think you could do a tee like I have it styled here or even a turtleneck! I think longer cardigans work so well with all different boot heights from booties to snow boots to tall boots!

Jeans// Bow Shoes (review here)
Bag// Hair Bow (I think it's no longer sold)

This is my spring/fall outfit. I layered it with a cashmere tee for an all-navy look but also for warmth since the cardigan is likely the 'jacket' during the fall and spring! Since the cardigan is pretty structured, I paired it with other ladylike pieces!

These Cashmere Tees are wardrobe staples for me. I have several colors and wear them so often! They run true to size!

Wicker Tote (on major sale)// Similar Scarf

Here we have summer! If I were headed to a place like Nantucket or elsewhere that tends to have milder summers (and often cool evenings) this is exactly what I would wear!

This Wicker Tote is half-priced right now on sale and it's such a beautiful bag. I carry mine often in the summer months!
