Besides my hair, one of the most frequently asked questions on my blog and social media is where did you get your necklace? I've written several posts over the years about my everyday jewelry, but today, I am going to write a post solely on my necklace so everyone is able to refer to this! In the widget above I have linked to many similar, if not identical options that you can purchase online. They're different metals, different carat sizes and I also included some CZ/faux diamonds for those working with smaller budgets!

Here are the questions that I am always getting asked:

bezel set diamond solitaire necklace

Where did you get your necklace?
It was custom made by my jeweler.

My grandparents gave me a gorgeous diamond ring set in a gold flower for my 16th birthday. I wore it often but as I got older, people started to mistake it as an engagement ring. So, I went to my jeweler and had it reset into a necklace.

What is the chain length?
16". It hits me right at my collarbone. It is a cable chain with a lobster clasp.

If I want to google this necklace for options, what should I google?
This necklace is a very common classic jewelry design. It is called a bezel set solitaire necklace with a round diamond. If you are going to a jeweler, show them a photo- that would be easiest

Do you wear it every day?
Yes. I never ever take it off. I wear it swimming, working out, in the shower, while I sleep, etc.

What is the stone?
The stone is a round diamond. You can find CZ stones/colored stones, etc. in this same design, too. You can also find different shaped diamonds.

How do you care for it?
I take it to my jeweler every so often (about once or twice a year) to make sure that the diamond is secure. You can/should do this with any of your diamond/gemstone jewelry. I clean it about once a month with a soft-bristled baby toothbrush and warm water.

Is it gold or rose gold?
Mine is 14k yellow gold. Retailers that carry something similar offer all different metals and if you have a local jeweler that can make things custom, the sky is the limit! I just personally prefer yellow gold to white gold/platinum. A white gold/platinum setting may make the diamond appear larger/sparklier, though.

Is it worth buying the 'real' thing vs. a CZ?
In my opinion, if you love the look and have the budget for it, I would say absolutely yes. This is a timeless piece of jewelry that you will be able to pass down for generations. You'll especially want to buy the 'real thing' if you plan on wearing it daily like me. Faux gold/CZ's won't hold up in a pool, with sweat from a workout, certain soaps, lotions, etc. Gold and diamonds are much more durable and if you take good care, they should last a lifetime, if not longer. Plus, if you tire of the necklace for some reason, you can always have the diamond reset into something different!

I have the exact same necklace from an old family diamond. Haven’t taken it off I’m three years!
