This has felt like the fastest week ever because of the holiday! I can't believe we are almost to the weekend. I love it! Did you all have a nice 4th?
Just a quick housekeeping item- I am so glad to hear from so many of you who enjoyed yesterday's blog post and that it resonated with you! I received so many thoughtful and insightful messages about the post. Thank you! I have seen a trend over the last few years where blog feedback and comments are being sent to me via Instagram DM versus a comment here on this website. Don't get me wrong, I love that I can chat with you all about it via DM and I SO appreciate you following me on both platforms, but I would love it if you posted your commentary on this blog in the comments section, too! You don't need to sign up for anything to comment. My biggest reasoning is that others can read the comments, and so when you share your insightful thoughts and valuable perspective via blog comments, we can all learn from each other rather than just me learning from you! Thank you all SO much.
Last weekend we went to a Pirate game with friends, which was lots of fun. Most of the weekend was on-and-off rain, but we got out and about to take Henry on some nice long walks and even a round of 9 holes when we could!
It wasn't all fun and games- I also had to take my car in to have 4 new tires put on. It was definitely time, but does anyone else just loathe anything to do with cars?! Definitely, the least fun way to spend your time and money, in my opinion (but necessary nonetheless).
We had a fun little 4th of July in our neighborhood with a big cookout which was really well done! We watched the fireworks from home because we had the best view right from our living room. We always try to stay home for them because, on top of the great view, Henry is terrified of the sound. We turned on the TV pretty loud and had a tower fan on high, and that seemed to help him a lot in drowning out the firework noise. He hides under our bed, and sometimes, if he is extra afraid, he can't even be coaxed out from underneath with a treat!
Last night, my husband and I went to dinner with my Grammie, which was great. Tonight and tomorrow, we are trying to cook at home since we have been out and about for the past few nights. I need to eat some vegetables, ha! This weekend we are headed to Ohio to see my husband's side of the family, which will be lots of fun!
Wearing: Only a few sizes of this dress left but it's marked down to $98! It was the perfect thing to wear for 4th of July! I am wearing a size small and find it to run very roomy (wish I had sized down) so size down. My earrings are many years old from this great small business, KEP designs! Drinking: This is the easiest drink recipe ever and all you need are 3 things: watermelon, lime juice, tequila. In a blender, blend together lime juice and cubes of watermelon (I don't measure, but about 2 cups watermelon and 2 oz lime juice). Pour mixture over ice and add in 2 oz tequila. It is quite literally the easiest watermelon margarita and it. tastes incredible!
Reading: This article talks about the new social media platform launching today called Threads. It's basically Meta's version of Twitter. Yay, another social media platform (sarcasm).
Sale: Next week is Amazon Prime Day (11th and 12th), and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale also begins on the 11th and goes through August 6th, so I have been prepping sale coverage for those two sales as I do every year. I know some of you have already asked to ensure I am doing that, and I am!n It will all go live next week!
Watching: Is anyone else excited to see the Barbie movie? I haven't seen a movie in theaters in ages, but I hope to see it... maybe at the drive-in?! I grew up going to drive-in movies (Dependable for those of you in Pittsburgh) and loved it, but my husband and I have never gone to a drive-in together, so this might be the movie for it! It comes out on the 21st! I'm also so excited for The Summer I Turned Pretty (Prime) to come out next Friday, 7/14! I loved the first season!
Loving: I saw both of these pillows in store and the quality was amazing and looked like something you would see in a higher end store. The photos don't do it justice! I have no need for either of the pillows but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate because they look so much nicer than their price tag! I also saw This wicker storage trunk is so pretty and looks like Pottery Barn for WAY less!
Wanting: This blue and white striped Longchamp bag is so cute!
Amazon Rec: I just ordered another pair of these shorts. I live in them in the summer! You can find more of my Amazon favorites, here!
Smelling: You can still use the code FLOWERPOWER20 until the end of this month on V+R's website (20% off)!
Pittsburgh: Iron Born has a pickle pizza and I tried it for the first time this past weekend and OH MY GOODNESS! If you like pickles, run do not walk to grab this pizza. It was one of the best things I've ever had!
Traveling: Not for another two weeks, but I am so excited to head to the lake! I am ready to relax on the dock, make some fun cocktails, read a few books, and enjoy delicious meals with my fam! I am always so excited for Henry, too, because he loves being outside all day, every day, and playing fetch in the water.

I liked your post yesterday. To respond to your request today about blog comments vs. Insta & DMs, I have a few thoughts-
1. Your prompt for comments is not super encouraging as far as feeling like it's chatting with you - it says "I try to respond to comments, but to receive an answer to a question you may have, please feel free to e-mail me at SummerWind41490@gmail.com for a faster response!"
2. DMs in general feel way more conversational since it's how I communicate with friends, and you don't need to remember to go back to the blog to check for a reply. I browse blogs with my morning coffee each day and am not in the habit of re-reading posts and checking back in the comments... partly for #3.
3. Insta feels more interactive with other readers in general. tbh most blog comment sections are relatively quiet and the most activity tends to be other bloggers trying to attract attention with simple "love it, so fun for summer!" type of comments. Also, comments stay in mod here as opposed to being published immediately, which I get, but it makes it feel like more of a unilateral submission vs. a conversation.
Anonymous, I appreciate this feedback so much! I agree with everything you said! Blog comments are definitely a slower form of communication.
I still do love that they can be shared with others and if someone is reading the blog post a week later, for example, they can see what others were discussing and it might prompt them with thoughts and perspectives even if the original commenter is not coming back to check on who is responding.
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide this feedback!
