I *love* to see that so many ladylike and classic pieces are 'in' right now. Not that they ever went out of style (for me at least), but when something is 'in' it is so exciting because it usually means there is a wide selection!

When it comes to my personal taste in fashion, over the past several years, the pickings have been slim. Don't get me wrong, there have been some definite gems, but there have been so many things with cutouts, huge puffy sleeves, too much fabric, and more. And don't even get me started on 2020 and how it was all sweats all the time (understandably so)! It's like these brands took the trends and just stopped offering classics altogether. 

Now, I know I'm likely in the minority here and don't expect every single one of you to agree with me, but that's just how I have felt! You can count on some brands to always offer at least a handful of beautiful, classic pieces, like J.Crew Tuckernuck, J. McLaughlin, Talbots, Ralph Lauren, etc. 

But I'm starting to see the classics return! Lady jackets, polished cardigans, cabled sweaters, and so much more. It's SO refreshing and exciting for me. 

So today I thought I would share the J.Crew Emilie cardigan, which I've had since early spring. I think Celine helped to put this timeless style back on the map and into trend-lover's favor. The cardigan runs well out of my budget and ranges around $ 3k to $ 4k. Fortunately, this cardigan style has become so popular that there is a look for less on practically every budget! 

So first, let's talk about J.Crew's version, and then I'll share quite a few more options! I have this J.Crew Emilie cardigan in a medium in navy and white stripes. I sized up because of how cropped the sweater is. At first, I liked the medium, but after wearing it a few times, I wish I had gotten a small. The fit is pretty boxy, and I think the small would have been a bit less wide on my body and would be more flattering. So, I would suggest getting your true size. But it's no big deal! It's 100% cotton, and the quality is top-notch. In my opinion, it's well worth the price. In fact, I think J.Crew could have sold it for more. The cotton is thick and tightly woven, so you get that structured appearance that looks almost like a jacket, but instead, you get the comfort of a knit cotton. It's the best of both worlds. It comes in 3 different stripe knits and then 3 solid colors. If I were to get a second, I'd choose the black just for its sleek simplicity. Anyway, I would highly recommend this cardigan. I have gotten a lot of wear out of it, but just keep in mind it is cropped, so it hits me just below my belly button. 

Here are some other great options. I think you only really 'need' one of these cardigans to be a workhorse in your wardrobe, but I will say, having options is really. nice. I have a solid red lady jacket from last holiday season that I love and can't wait to wear again. Red is such a nice pop of color. I also think both black and navy are great because they are neutral and can be dressed up or dressed down.
