One Skirt, Two Ways

I'm starting to get excited for fall and looking forward to the outfits I will wear! I got this skirt recently and have been dying to style it. You can wear it now and well into the fall season. I love midi skirts; this one seemed so elegant with the pleats and reminded me of styles Kate Middleton has worn. I have the slip skirt from a year or two ago in navy and get quite a bit of wear out of it still, and this is similar, so I knew I would love it! 

I also got this Sequin Sweater to match the skirt, but it's still too warm for that outfit! The sweater is cotton, though, so I plan to wear it with white shorts for now! It has sequins knitted all throughout, and in some lighting, you can't tell there are sequins, and in other lighting, the sweater absolutely shimmers- it's unique and looks high-end like Brunello Cucinelli or Nili Lotan. The camera really doesn't do the sweater justice! 

Anyway, one thing that's important to me when selecting things to add to my wardrobe, especially when it comes to fall and winter pieces is that they can be styled in many ways. I get limited wear out of summer clothes because our summer season is so short, but September-April, I'm in sweaters and jeans and that kind of thing, so I go for versatility. 

This skirt totally fits the versatility description! When I first saw it online, I assumed I'd only ever style it as a skirt because, after all, that is what it is! Once I got it home and tried it on, I realized it could be worn as a strapless dress. The waist is stretchy, so it's comfortable, and that's how I can pull it up around my chest! Now, I would not personally wear it without something overtop (like this Cardigan) because strapless never looks good on me (I'm broad in the shoulders/chest), but with something over my shoulders, I think it looks SO cute and gives the skirt a totally different look!

Moral of this post: most things are more versatile than you may think.  If you play around with them, there are many ways to style things!
