Dinner last night! We made pesto and mozzarella-stuffed grilled chicken!
I love long weekends and had the best time, but man, do they throw me off for the rest of the week! This past long weekend, my sister came to town, and we had drinks at Round Corner and dinner at Parlor in Lawrenceville. It was such a fun night out with my family. She slept over, and then the next morning, my girlfriend Peyton picked us up bright and early to drive up to Ohiopyle, about 1.5 hours from Pittsburgh. It's a state park and quite popular for Pittsburghers, but I had never been. We went whitewater rafting in the Youghiogheny River to celebrate my girlfriend Nicole getting married in October!
When I tell you I was nervous, that is an understatement. I had a hard time sleeping the night before! I just kept picturing injuries and people flying out of the rafts left and right. I always make things SO MUCH worse in my head than they ever actually are. I'm here to tell you that we had the absolute best time. While I still don't think it's the safest activity, you get paired with a guide in your raft, and they are so knowledgeable, and you get a quick safety lesson before you get into the rafts. We also did a mild section of the river; no one in our boat popped out, which was nice! I loved it, and it was fun for a group of girls to do it together. We lucked out with the most gorgeous weather, too. If you are on the fence about doing it like I was, you should try it out! After that, we all went back to the mountain house in Hidden Valley, which I had stayed at a few times before. We played beer Olympics (with High Noons, though, ha!), and I can say that's the first time I have ever played, but it was also so much fun. We drove home the next day, and it was just lots of fun celebrating the bride-to-be.
Sunday, I also had a fun little dinner at my cousin's new apartment to celebrate my aunt's birthday, and then on Monday, I was so tired from everything I took it easy and skipped out on going to our club to just relax and laze around with my husband which is just what I needed!
This weekend is going to be low-key. We are going out to do a few Pittsburgh things, which will be nice (if the weather cooperates). I'm in a wedding next weekend, and my sister, BIL, aunt, and uncle are all coming to town for the wedding, so we will be getting together starting mid-week. I am so excited.
Wearing: I've been getting more wear than I ever thought I would out of this Belt Bag (AKA a fanny pack). It's a bit trendy but so cute and functional. If you are ever wondering where something is from, I keep my LTK page up to date at all times; you can also access all of my posts, here, if you don't use LTK!
Watching: I started watching 90 Day Fiancé, the Last Resort on TLC, and quite frankly, I think that is how you can tell that I have absolutely nothing else to watch right now, ha!
Eating: I'm not a huge Chik Fil A gal. I like it, but if I'm eating fast food, I always prefer Taco Bell (duh), and I also like Chipotle. Basically, CFA is never my first choice, but it's my husband's favorite, so I eat it here and there. CFA came out with a new sandwich, a spicy chicken sandwich with pimento cheese, hot honey, and pickled jalapenos, and wow, it was so delicious!
Eating: These little crackers are delicious. They are flaky and have a nice caramelized onion flavor. You can eat them on their own, but I think they would be excellent paired with some sort of cheese- I just haven't figured out what kind yet!
Drinking: If I am going to drink coffee in the morning, I prefer my own brewed black coffee made at home, but later in the day, once in a while, I love a cappuccino or flat white at Starbucks or at home. My sister introduced me to the pumpkin cream cold foam, which you can get on top of most drinks. She got it on top of black iced coffee, which was incredible. It was sweet, so it was definitely a treat, but it had a very authentic pumpkin pie taste. I will try the foam on top of a hot coffee or espresso soon since I don't love iced drinks.
Sale: I love Matches for splurge-worthy pieces, and I just realized they have an 'outlet' section of deeply discounted pieces! Totally worth the browse!
Watching: I started watching 90 Day Fiancé, the Last Resort on TLC, and quite frankly, I think that is how you can tell that I have absolutely nothing else to watch right now, ha!
Wanting: One of my favorite sweaters is back in the most beautiful green. This jacket came up randomly in a Google search and it's so classic and beautiful! This is such a gorgeous classic sweater and a great price, too!
Pittsburgh: I shared my current favorite Pittsburgh restaurants!
Amazon Rec: You can find more of my Amazon favorites, here on my Amazon page, where I am constantly updating it with all my finds and top picks from home, beauty, fashion, and more!
Traveling: We have a busy September and October. We are going to Boston in October, but I want to plan a weekend getaway in early November- any suggestions?

I may have to try the pumpkin foam/iced coffee idea! I have been sampling a few different types of cold coffee drinks lately...and finally realized, I just don't really like iced coffee/iced coffee drinks! They're either too sweet and dessert-like, or just taste like I let my coffee get cold, haha. Glad I'm not alone in the preference for hot coffee at home!
